I'm in the process of stripping a 325 engine (nothing wrong with it but i'm keeping the head as a spare ) but i can't remove the inlet manifold , removed all the visible nuts and one sneaky bolt but it won't split , there's a steel pipe which runs vertically into the block but i can't find a way of splitting it , Any ideas Cheers Keith

Push the pipe down.
It's what the sping around it is for.

Give the inlet a bash with a rubber mallet or something, probably never been split from new.
Any news on the blind Keith, maybe I could pop over one evening?

Just wait till you try and put the inlet manifold back on as that pipe is a bastard. I had to push it down as hard as I could to wedge it in the whole before I could slide the inlet on.

I tie the spring tightly down with a couple of pieces of string before I assemble a six pot, and then just cut them when the head and manifold are on.
Before you knock seven bells out of things with a rubber mallet, double check you haven't missed a bolt or nut. You wouldn't be the first.
