If you decide you want to go for a Schrick I have a brand new 288/288 with uprated valve springs for sale. Drop me a PM if interested, looking for Ԛ£330 inc P&P. May not be what you are looking for though, more peaky than a 272/272.

I've just fitted a DBilas 272/284 cam into a ported head - very impressed with the results so far. It just revs so easily now, especially above 4k. First gear just disappears in no time. Only downside is the really rough running at idle, but you can get a chip through the zone that will increase the idle speed a little to help with this.
Pete,
How much did you pay for the Dbilas?
I would go for a 284/272 if your looking for smooth running. Makes a big big difference to the way power is delivered. Standard BMW is too flat over 4000 rpm.

The cam was about 300 Euros (Ԛ£220) new from Germany, plus 150 Euros (about Ԛ£100) for the uprated springs.M5pilot wrote:Pete,

I'm just waiting for an updated chip now to reap the full benefits of this.
