It's good when these old threads come back, cos I get a chance to oggle at some beautiful cars in threads that were "before my time!"

Not too shabby a ride you have there fella, feeling the wood (so to speak) but never been a fan of the sticky outy arches, must be because I'm poor.
If you ever fancy adopting a forty year old please get in touch.

Thanks for the renewed interest and yes, I still have her 7 years on. It still goes very well, though obviously its not my daily driver, that is reserved for another German http://imageshack.us/photo/my-images/534/img0300jb.jpg/

Well I thought it was time for a little update given I have now owned her for 13 years. I completed the little tasks I set out to do plus refurbished the wheels, other than that it has just been regular servicing. The car performs as well now as it did when I bought her.
The only issue I have is the fuel map switch will not stay pressed in - those are Alpina specific and no longer available. I know what the problem with the switch is and need to find a way to resolve it (a new switch would be nice!) - I think I can use an Air Con switch and change the buttons over, just don't want to damage a new switch as they are quite expensive.
A while ago we took her on a road trip from home via the Chunnel to the Champagne region (Reims), across France to Germany (Mercedes museum Stuttgart), then to the Alpina's home (Buchloe), across more of Germany, down through Austria, across the Alps, down past Monza ending in Cannes on the Cote d'azure before returning home via the French autoroutes.
The car performed faultlessly and here are a few pictures from the trip (as you can see, it did get a bit grubby!)
Started off clean enough though

A load of champagne vines

Outside its 'home'

Still goes ok!

Quite snowy across the alps

Basking in the sun on the Cote D'zure before the 750 miles up the autoroutes to Calais and then home.

Yes, rarity does indeed add value. I wonder how many of the 62 remain.

I too wondered if you still had this hero chariot! It looks well
I read on facebook the other day that there was 1 car sold here in the UK. Its in the middle east and has been for a long time. The guy whos bought it found it in someones garden laid up and kids playing in it. He was puzzled by the MPH speedo and e-mailed alpina with all the info and the came back and told him its the only UK car sold! He says hes restoring it.
If i had a crytal ball i'd of borrowed money and bought one of these as it does all i'd want in an E30

Such a nice looking vehicle. I can't believe that in the last 30 years I have lived in smallsbury I have never seen this around!
Although I suspect we live in slightly different areas!!

I just clicked that you are a stones throw from where I lived with my parents for 18 years! I lived opposite the Methodist church in W.D. My parents still live there now.
So I am even more dumbfounded I have never seen it.
If I get the Z3M Coupe out of the garage we should go out for some photos/blast. I'd be interested to see the Janspeed Capri Turbo as I work there. I have seen a few over the years, alas we don't hold any of the history of the cars anymore. We get asked a lot!!
