A particularly sad end to the day, not lest to all of the family involved in this. No one will ever know 100% what happened I expect. I'm suprised the papers/police didn't get wind of the car having some reference to the Santa Pod meet mind. That will all come out in the wash though. :(

I generally drive slowly and saftely to big meets like this as I know that there is likely to be more fuzz about. Perhaps a tad selfish as I am doing it to save my licence, but it will also keep me safe...I hope.

Poor people that had to clear that up as well. I couldn't be dealing with that.
Very good post. It is very sad all the same.

Now that is very sad news. Even though it may have been self inflicted I wouldn't wish that on anyone.

I have had a couple of my customers crash thier cars not long after leaving me after I've set up thier cars on the dyno. None have died yet, but makes it go through my mind how I would feel if they end up badly injured or no longer with us. Even though its not me who make them have the accident, I feel contributory sometimes as I've made thier car faster, and they exploit that when they leave.

There seems to be too many deaths lately... I've had enough of it!

My best wishes to his son who I hope pulls through ok and my thoughts are with his wife and daughter.

Suggest you knock it back a notch, this is not a random crash but somone known to the members of the Zone and does not need to be disected and picked over on a public forum.
well said cotty.

In the face of a tradgedy how it happened and who was in the wrong is no longer a matter of consequence. What is is the feelings of the friends and family. Having knowing that my gf's uncle was killed on his motorbike cocking around makes his loss no less felt, or made breaking the news to her any easier.

RIP to the driver.

Lets hope his son pulls through

On the PBMW forum it says, the passenger in the car was not Ruis son but in fact a family friend. Either way lets hope he pulls through, condolance to the family.

just because he was driving fast dont mean its 100% his fault, not saying if he wasnt driving as fast he might be ok, but iv been driving faster than the speed limit and had old women pull out doing alot less than the limit and almost crashed. i know im in the wrong for speeding but i was allways told that just cause its a 70 limit dont mean everyone is doing 70 so look and judge how fast someone is moving before you pull out. sometimes its the slow cars that causethe crash from driving to slow and puling out on people. im not saying this is what happened but i dont think t on slagging the man down when hes no longer with us to stand up for his self. he must have felt it was safe to drive as he did or i would think he wouldnt have done it. still sad for this to happen what a wast of life.

ok the argument is that at the end of the day it was speed that done it .. i was told it s hard to flip the convertibles over... the only time i would speed is when im alone and ONLY if its nessesary to do so.. speeding should be kept on track which is a true statement that a fellow zoner stated... the kid in the passenger wasnt gonna go in that car on the way car back home, he was going to go with his girlfriend and inlaws on his way back to london but was edged to go with the guy asking him for company.. And now the kid is severly on life support e.t.c. bleeding in the head when morphine is induced whith pain and apparently kicking his legs around trying to pull the pipes out connecting his body... and his parents aint taking it well big time e.t.c.

---alpina--- were you there when the accident happened...no thought not. Its all hearsay, biased(but I can understand why) opinions.

It doesn't look good though you have to admit, a car capable of 155mph, lots of 'modifications,' coming back from Santa pod etc. But there is no point adding to rumours in my opinion.

Right enough arguments about this. Any more and the thread will be locked.

It doesn't matter how this happened all I know is one man is no longer with us and a lad is in hospital very ill. Do you really think their families would want people coming up with half baked conclusions.

No-body knows the full story so the discussion will stop now.

I'm not locking this thread as there will be people who want to send their best wishes.

Very unfortunate event and my thoughts are with everyone involved.

The important thing is that we must all learn a little from incidents like this. Take care on the road and enjoy life, you never know whats just around the corner.

well said tommo. sincerest condolences to all concerned. it makes the tut-tut about the traffic jam delaying us on our way home for twenty minutes seem unforgiveable. i left the pod early because i had to collect my dog and saw the aftermath, very sad indeed. it makes you appreciate just how precious our time here is and perhaps want to show and tell our loved ones how much they do mean to us, instead of just a few scribbled words in a card at christmas. repeat tommo's sentiments exactly.
