where to get a replaced number plate ?

my front number plate is mashed and will result a fail for mot. where do i get a new number plate ? do i ring dvla or something ?

You need to prove you own the car to get the plates made up. Unless you buy off Ebay. I did that last time as I hadn't had the paperwork back so Ebay was the only option.
