just back from a spin in my 325 cabby, and there is a noticable taping noise from engine.
Just wondering is it a knackered tapit?
Does one of them need adjusted?
Is it a big job for an amateur to replace them or should it be done professionally

cheers, very easy once you know how, new plugs would probably help aswell when I'm at it

I done everything in the link you gave alex, I found a few that were more than .25mm. I adjusted all these and and tightened everything up.
There is still a taping noise like something that is loose wat else do I need to check?

Could possibly be the injectors.

Is the noise under load - could be exhaust manifold?

the noise is only when idle, or when i'm letting of the accelerater or driving without using the accelerater. might try the the spray bar and put oil around the tappets. will i just take of the spray bar and blow through it.
