Great first day out in this car at Elvington. The weather was dry and so an excellent opportunity to try out the R888’s and the rest of the car. Some of the usual cars there but also a GTR with uprated exhaust (is that necessary!) and a Dodge Viper ”“ but relatively quiet.
Great to empty the water out of that fog light ”“ will take them out & tape the headlights up next time!)
Its dry ”“ just parked in a puddle! (an arty shot by Scot who we met there in an M3 e36 ”“ a zone member & very keen on his many cars ”“ thanks for the pics Scot!)
The pics wernt great as you couldn’t get close & no telephoto but the car did really well fast & handled very well ”“ really couldn’t fault it and there were no engine, brake or suspension issues
It was a little louder than the organisers wanted (sounded very nice!). It was a 98db day & standing mine was 95db but on driveby they didn’t like it & got tested twice. I’m hoping that it is that they are just very cautious over noise there as the locals want to stop any motorsport & its been to court a couple of times.
The course did have some mean right hand twisties and it told on the otherwise lovely R888’s ”“ well just on the front drivers side
All went well into the afternoon & then we heard a suspicious noise ”“ possibly the suspension, stopped & took a look. These tyres are so grippy they shook all the wheel bolts loose & the nearside rear wheel was literally loose to the point you could wobble it backwards & forwards. It was so loose it began to wear away at the holes”¦..
After a little worrying about the damage we put the wheel back on & tightened it up very well then went out for more fun. A good day but will be going on circuits in future as I’m sure its more forgiving on the tyres ”“ I imagine the armco & concrete tend to make you drive a little better and not abuse all the runoff you get to play with on an airfield.
Cant wait”¦
