I'm looking at options for speakers for my Touring. Has anybody used these, what are they like?

Not to good with electrics, would the tweeters fit into the wing mirror trim and where would the crossovers go? How hard is the wiring?

Depending on the size of the tweeter housing, it could be surface mounted onto the mirror blanking piece.
Wiring may actually be already in the door, ready to hook up.You'd need to trace it back to the door connector and work from there to connect it to the crossover
Wiring is pretty straight forward TBH.
Crossover requires full range signal(speaker wire) from the head unit and then it splits it to the mid bass/mid range and tweeter.Wiring should be included in the kit.
Crossovers can be hidden behind the dash on the passenger side and tie wrapped above or below the ecu on the driver side to keep them out of the way.

Can anybody recommend a good quality amp to go with this lot.
Infinity Perfect 5.1
Alpine CDA 9886R head unit.
Needs to be at least two channel 50W RMS per channel.
Thanks.

No not yet, the Infinity Perfect's are £190, so my budget is maybe a little more than that. I like the idea of tweeters and these will surface mount to the rear of the wing mirrors.

Ok not that i wanna throw a spanner in the works im using Hertz mids and tweeters with the OEM speakers pods, also u can flat mount these etc
I have found really good results using the Hertz speaker gear as the company only produces speakers and amps and the sound they create is crystal clear too
have a look at these links, I have recormend Hertz speakers to alot of zoners know and each zoner has agreeded they are good quality
hertz website
http://www.hertzaudiovideo.com/default_en.htm
here's where i shop for them
http://www.caraudiodirect.co.uk/index.p ... ers_id=130
Im running the mids and tweeters up front and coxail in the rear of my cab with a EP4 amp its cracking kit and looks cool too. The tweeters im using have a inline crossover so no ned to hide a external crossover either
sorry if it adds to ur confusion over speakers

Can't make it to the pod this year, perhaps I need to get buffing for next year.
Just looked at the Hertz website and it's very interesting. Lots of options, can you tell me what specific model you would recommend for the fronts (5 1/2"). As I have a touring I'm obviously limited with what I can do in the rear without cutting away at car, so I'm trying to concentrate on the front.

Ok so what do you think: Hertz HCX 100.3 - SET COAX 2Way 100mm to the rear.

EP4 amp, found it for £130:
http://www.sextonsdirect.co.uk/EP4_hert ... ifier.html
With the Infinity Perfect to the front.

130 for the amp is cracking i paid 200 when it first come out earlier this year bargin. The coaxials do what they say on the tin with a good quality build and high sound quality
I currently run infinity kappa's mid and tweeters in my clk and hiding the crossover unit was a real pain, Im also running rear kappa 6x9's in the rear of my merc. Im a great believer in the same brand delivers good resultsas its all designed by the same boff and i preffer using the inline crossover units as it makes life easier for fitting.
Im my cab im running hertz speakers and amp with good results so im a bit bias in the respect of Hertz however when i change out of my Merc next year i will be using Hertz in my new Merc.
If i was u i'd go for the following setup
Ur alpine HU is pucker
I'd use these
which are DIECI DSK 130 which are going for 60quid region
and use these for the rear
Hertz Energy ECX 130.3
which are around 70quid
Id say try and stick to one brand for better results and the setup im recormending is what im using and its as clear speaker wise as my merc's which cost over 450quid just for the spearkers alone

Thanks for taking the time to post up some pictures Cliffy, I think your right in terms of matching same brand components.
I don't think the 130.3 will fit in the rear however.

100mm does indeed fit in the rear speaker enclosures in the tourings
There is room for comps in there if you want to go for 2 way rears
I use MB Quart in the rear of mine

There's a nice flat section on the rear enclosure which can be drilled/dremel'd out for the tweeter
The part to the right of the speaker in this pic

That's where i've got my tweeter

Thanks for all the advise guys. I have decided to try the Hertz ESK 103.3 in the front with Clffy's choice of the Hertz EP4 amp and Alpine head unit.

I'm going to see how these sound before I decide what to do in the rear.

Bad Dave's picture is just showing where he mounted the tweeters in the rear, I think this may have been before he installed MB quarts.
Made me giggle.
