that IS the engine he had from u scott.
the water pump started leaking badly so it was replaced, and it just wont bleed properly, not that it wanted to bleed properly before the change - never known an m20 this bad for bleeding colling system

fuk me! well, i drove that car from Newcastle, to swindon, and then home to west wales and i did almost every mile in 3 figures. Sat it on the drive and left it for at LEAST 30 minutes, testing to see if the car boiled or not. Temp needle didnt go anywhere near 3/4 even! And in the whole trip back (and about 2000miles driving afterwards) it never needed topping up, bleeding, venting or anyything, and it never leaked for sure.Chaos wrote:that IS the engine he had from u scott.

this engine is gona be the death of me

will do them in week.
car running fine i think its just cos it was stood for so long that things like the water pump seal went etc
lets hope its all sorted
next time you see me m8 i'll be grey

iv had loads of stupid problems on my m30 cos it was sitting around before i bought it, first engine was even worse
electrical problems, cooling problems, fcuking oil pump problems, nearly torched it when that happened
those pressures look fine to me anyway as u said. shouldv seen the compressions my first m30 gave just before i pulled it out, 1 bent valve and 2 broken rings

i wouldn't pay too much notice to what the gauge says on the tester you borrowed mate, as the gauge can be in-accurate.
the fact that they are of the same pressure(virtually) is the good sign.
it means the head gasket is not leaking anywhere.
it means a few other things aswell, but your concerns about the head and gasket are all that matters on this subject
i, for one, am pleased for you mate.
it means nemo can live to fight another day

As Glenn says, they're all close, that's the main thing, when one cylinder is some way out from the others is the time to start worrying.
Have you managed to bleed the system yet?

I was going to say what everyone else has said. Ignore the reading just take it that they are all the same which is cool.

another good test for compression is to put a spoonful of oil in each plug hole
then see if the figures alter from the first result
this will tell you more
good luck

Only do this if one of the readings is low otherwise don't bother and careful with the amount of oil you put in. Only a tea spoon full.
