how to restore my brilliant red e30

the car has brilliant paintwork through out apart from the rear quarter of the car which has faded - what is the most simplest way to restore the colour without spending a fortune any reccomendations welcomed!

Common problem on Brilliant Red paint, I can also vouch for it!!

The best way would be to use a Porter cable polisher and some decent cutting polishes on it, it will come up a treat.

Or, cheaper to do it by hand and use something like T-Cut, you'll have bulging biceps after you've finished though

Very importantly you'll need a good wax/sealant on top to help stop it fading again. Keeping it out of direct sunlight will help too, but red cars are knwon for this!

i had the same problem, had faded on my roof and bonet
i t-cuted it and then used turtel wax
then i also gave it a coat of auto glym deep shine with brought it up a treat, even the spot i missed with t-cut the auto gleam brought it back, now its got a good deep shine to it

When i had a red e30 i had exactley the same problem, all iused was Autoglym Super resin Polish that restored it really quickly.

Buy some decent wax to go over the top of it and it will be fine.

the only problem with ag is that it only has a mild cutting action. and it is a filler polish, meaning that it does not get ride of swirls it just fills them to make them look like there not really there.

and t-cut is good but its is a pain to get off.
surprisingly the best ive found for cutting the paint back is megiurs stage one paint cleaner.
i wouldnt buy the stage two because it isnt actually a polish it a glaze.

You're not exactly cutting with Megs Stage 1, it's a chemical cleaner that contains no abrasives, it just acts upon the layer of dead oxidised pigment sitting on the top. Using something a little more abrasive afterwards, or instead of, should be more effective at restoring the finish, then follow it up with some protection afterwards. I'd personally recommend a sealant rather than a wax as sealants generally have better UV filtering properties. Off the shelf, Autoglym SRP followed by their Extra Gloss Protection (Not the Ultra Deep Shine), or for something better (online) go for Chemical Guys Jetseal 109, I know some people really favour Zaino but I'm not personally a fan.

The best stuff for restoring colur on any Red beemer is Farecla G5. You can get it from most good auto paint shops, if you really want to splash out, Menzerna Power Gloss is awesome. I use it everyday at work and it makes the paint look like glass. Then you will need some high carnauba content wax. The polymer waxes like Autoglym don't stop the fade as effectively as something like Poorboys paste waxes.
