Hi All,

alot of you seem to have daily drivers which are newer BMW's or cars in the family which are newer BMW's.

With the newest deisel engines, 2.0d 177bhp and the 123d, the ECU's have been very hard to crack.

Evolve are the first company in the UK and amongst the first company in Europe to crack these EDC17 ECU's.

We can now remap the 2.0d 177bhp to 215bhp and we can take the 123d from 204 bhp to 245bhp.

In addition to this all remaps are done without removing the ECU.

We are also the only company in the UK to be able to remap the 335i and 135i through the diagnostic port. All others are taking the ECU out and sending it away to Germany.

These 306bhp cars go to an astonishing 370+bhp from our ECU remap.

Intercoolers, exhausts etc add even more power.

ECU Remaps:

118d 143bhp +35bhp / 50 lb.ft

120d 163bhp +45bhp / 65 lb.ft

120d 177bhp +40bhp / 60 lb.ft

123d 204bhp +40bhp / 60 lb.ft

135i 306bhp +70bhp / 90 lb.ft

A 385BHP 1 series does sound a bit nippy doesn't it.
With a new air filter and exhaust I would imagine 400 is possible.

The great thing about the modern BMW engine's is just how good on fuel they are as well.

With the new vehicles now if there is a fault with it BMW get heavily involved and they can interogate every control unit on the car to find the fault just by us connecting the car by the diagnostic port to the phone line.

Indeed, BMW take it very seriously. The level on encryption on current BMW ECU's is around four times stronger than bank security. Two BMW employees in Germany were jailed recently for releasing software details on the current gen EDC17 cars.........which of course is everywhere now.

Not everywhere.

There is only one system on the planet at this time that can read and write to BMW EDC17 and at the same time retain the checksumm control.

The 135i uses MSD80 and 81 ECU's.

OK, I'm really not trying to pour cold water on your achievement here Sal. Hats off for the effort and the results. But a small part of me can't help wondering why BMW aren't getting these figures themselves. Are they worried about long term longevity? Are they sandbagging so that they can just tweak the ECU every year and get small gains?
In short, how can there be such a margin between the factory output and the figures we see here?

I would say it is partly due to BMW maps being generic and very safe..

however an interesting point!

Yes a good point.

BMW do test the engines to maximum powerand various other powers and decide on the best all round figure that gives best power/fuel ratio and longevity.

Romour has it when 1st tested it was more powerful than the E92 M3

Some are limited to keep them within emissions bands or keep them where they should be in the range also.. 323/328...

It's all to do with reliability, fuel economy, emissions regulations and also German market insurance groupings as well as positioning the models in their places.
I'm of the opinion - rightly or wrongly - that the cars are fast enough as they are and given the cost of a new engine, I wouldn't want to chance a warranty claim being rejected!

That 335i with 384bhp is a lot, but check out the TORQUE  Hows it drive in the lower revs looking from the graph the characteristics appear considerably different from stock to mapped?

All manufactures will keep boost pressure thus power to a conservative level on FI cars but can normaly take increases in their stride.

Yes its really old tech now but remember the Cosworth YB. Could easily take a 50-100% increase in power on near stock internals.

I know of someone else in the UK that can do this...

The 335i is very very quick even without a remap! I can't imagine what one would be like with a remap.

Correct, the YB was detuned for the road cars,as out of the bag it had 280BHP.

well can you imagine a 280bhp RWD sierra at that time unleashed on to the general public back in the when they were new. Would of been even more of an impact

a 325i went like a rocket then and there wasn't alot to hassle one on the roads.

Even more would of found the hedges early on!

I'm now trying to imagine the scene in 20 years time when these new cars are as old as our E30s at the moment. Imagine picking up a 380bhp car for a couple of grand when you're 21! Of course... you'll probably manage a 5mph average on the M1 by then ;)
