HavenԚ´t you read the thread?

I donԚ´t reccomend a 325i tb only,
as itԚ´s so big that itԚ´s inner diameter in the back is larger then the 320i manifold so you will be sucking in unmetered air.

At the risk of sounding thick. What do you mean by: "itԚ´s so big that itԚ´s inner diameter in the back is larger then the 320i manifold so you will be sucking in unmetered air"

The 64mm diameter of the 325i one when mounted not only is alot bigger then the 320i manifolds hole, but itԚ´s so big that a little gap is created on the bottom of the manifold itself, where air get trough, I used the stock gasket and 325i one to try and overcome this. but it only lasted one day

Maybe you will have to see it to understand

I was going to use aircraft B2 sealent to seal the TB to the inlet manifold. I have ground it out to size and left a few mm of metal to seal to.

I'm watching this with interest too. 15bhp drop running '25 mani eh?? Looks like a modded stock mani for me then!! Going to read the article in TBMW first though.

After adjusting the AFM yesterday.
It runs great now, no hesitation, more smooth idle and driving in general,
I still havenԚ´t installed the 3.0fpr so WOT power is still the same , altough itԚ´s slightly smoother then before

I had to loosen the spring on the AFM.

I Ԛ´ll do the 3.0fpr today and post up the results tonight.

IԚ´m beggining to wonder if the manifold is simply to big for the motor??
IԚ´ll also swap air filters

3.0fpr update

for this I mod I reccomend you have a working 02 otherwise you will be wasting more fuel

had to fix idle with the AFM a little,
now throttle response off idle isnԚ´t as good, cause of the extra fuel getting trown in there, a O2 hooked up would probably cure that.

gtech measurements
91kwԚ´s but it says 85-86 at 4500-5000rpm so I think I would have to visit the dyno to get a better results than that
0-60mph 8.5-8.6 easily
1/4 ; 16.8 consistent.

itԚ´s obviouly more powerfull, altough the figures donԚ´t say so,
for instance when dropping the clutch it doesnԚ´t bog down at 4000rpm like before but I can take it wheelspinning from 4000 and up. And it has alot better pickup, I can tell I have a 3,25 rear diff :)

I have yet to change the filter but I will do that later today when I go by the place that has all my spare parts :)

IԚ´m sure a MAF (e36 320i maf) and a remap will actually get the best results,
I also donԚ´t reccomend all this hassle unless you have the parts for free og minimal money and effort.

If I get a chance to do a free dyno run IԚ´ll take it and post the results

well those are really strong times for a 320i, the power has to be more if it is pulling those times though

I did go out once more and got 97 wich is a little better,

another update

M30 afm swap.

For this I used a 013 AFM from a 735i, 635csi

Trick was getting the intake boot on to the afm, wich was a real pain, but I did get it in the end without heating,,

Then I had to adjust the afm for the motor, 013 board did not work, I used the 320i board and made it work,
I then went ahead and mounted the afm and intake boot onto the m20 filter box, So very stock looking,

I fiddled with the afm wheel and loosened it so much that the flap can go so far as it goes of the voltage board and the afm sends out 0v , and the engine stumples, IԚ´ll retension the afm tomorrow and make measurement,
I re installed the 2.5fpr,
IԚ´ll test it with the 2.5 and then the 3.0fpr and post results,
This is as much intake as this engine will take without cam ,

when I get my wideband IԚ´ll post afrԚ´s
and possibly IԚ´ll tune it with a piggyback for more HP, if possible.

More update,

Now things made a serious diffrence,
I put in a 325i JimC chip :)
my buddy arnib has the 320i chip for checking if itԚ´s identical to a stock 325i one or at least close,

6900revlimit
more pull from 4000rpm, just like a 325i starts pulling there, just not as hard obviously,
I havenԚ´t had a chance to do a dyno run nor check mixture, but I will soon,

I do reccomend this stuff if you have it available or can get for very little
325i manifold
325i throttle body
325i intake boot
735i afm bolted to M20 afm filter box,
320i/325i air filter
325i Tuned Chip(JimC or Zone chip maybe)
2.5fpr and 320i injectors.

If today stays dry IԚ´ll do a 0-60mph run
last night I got 9,9 in the pooring rain, with heavy heavy wheel spinning.

If you use a 3.0fpr youԚ´ll be squirting more fuel then a 325i so donԚ´t bother as the 320i injectors are slightly bigger

Went out and tested the results with a gtech once more
still at 2.5bar

109 was the number on the meter,
remember I began with 92 when this started,

I am beggining to think that there is a part of the chip or ecu that alters the values some how, as I should be running pig rich with only 7% less fuel then a 325i uses, even less since itԚ´s a performance chip,
maybe itԚ´s the AFM I adjusted or something,

I got 8.8 0-60mph and 16.8 1/4mile at 85mph,

IԚ´ll have to weigh the car to get any clear results as the car had less fuel then when I weighed it, I did compensate tough, but maybe it wasnԚ´t dead on.

So a remap is definitly needed, and a dyno run also, I wish I could do a dyno run to get the results on paper and with torque changes :)

When I get my wideband in IԚ´ll know the mixture and will be able to remap the chip for best results,
With great challenges comes great engineering.

Attention 731Massive!!!...... 325i TB + chip..... Bring 'em on!
Gunni.. Sorry for hijacking your thread matey, but I'm pleased that someone here is doing something positive for us 320i (and 323i) lovers, rather than slagging us off.
If you can get 'round to it, dyno readings would be really  but I understand that it may be pointless from your point of view when you've only got the engine in temporarily (sp?).
On behalf of the 731Massive, thanks for the effort you've put in on this subject Gunni. :thumb::rock: :D :clap:
