Alrighty chaps,

Just a quick question regarding flywheels;

If i buy a motor with no flywheel, can i just use the one off my old motor
or will i need to send it away with the crank to get balanced?

Not really a fan of 'bitsa' motors but i aint got no option (broke a valve)
Concerns to be raised or purely paranoid? :?

thanks 8)

I've converted 2 M20 engines from auto to manual so far , and I've had no problems with either flywheel swap causing vibes.

Cheers,

BMW build their engines properly. Flywheels and crankshafts are all balanced seperately.
I've converted a few auto engines to manual and put lighter flywheels on in place of heavyweight dual mass flywheels, and havn't had any problems with balance.
