Matt,
Keep your Sport, knuckle down and save the pennies then go looking for an M3, IMHO your sport will be hard to replace.
I sold my 944 Turbo S and regretted it big time ! managed to buy it back last December without too much wear and Tear nearly back to her former Glory and even quicker now
No movement with the iS at the moment getting the oily bits sorted, then the bodywork sorted when funds allow going to get all the parking dings sorted, then the wheels refurbed filled it with cavity wax ,but need to waxoyl underneath and then paint when i have ££££

In 2002 I had a Sport Evolution (and an absolute minter by your standards) and a rather doggy '10 footer' of a C1 2.3 with a 2.7 engine.

I sold the M3 and kept the Alpina shitter for another year. Says it all really. You need to have a good drive of an M3 to see whether it's for you. And before you say yes to one of those, you need to have a punt in an Alpina B8 4.6 (LHD only E36 with the Alpina 4.6 V8).

Did you get my PM btw?

No such thing as a 1989 Evo 11 in Diamond black. They were made in 1988 and were Macao blue, Nogaro silver or Misano red.

That is a scrap standard M3, £1000 worth of junk and some spares.

my 2 pence worth

I would rather have a quality sport (especially in lachs  ) or a C2 before an m3 anyday I just love the classic e30 shape and the magical sound of the straight 6

overpriced M3's with the silly arches' 4 pot lump' high running costs along with left hand drive don't do it for me :duck:

matt stick to the plan and get that 2.8 in there' it will make an awesome sport

There are some half decent M3's around for £6000. Not mint but useable and saveable. £10'000 will buy something very, very tidy if you are discriminate and know the difference between a good car and rubbish.

That Ebay thing is so knackered it's just not worth restoring unless you paid it's true value (£1000) ande did all the work yourself.

i ended up i the same situation, but my old sport wasn't as mint as yours although a very good car. I'd always wanted an alpina and...........had to make a hard decision as i was very fond of my old sport

You can always look back and say well i've been there and done that, which is better than "but what if"

WLN are always after good cars and i couldn't see Andy turning it away or not selling it on your behalf. They are always after proper cars which is what you've made yours
Good post and a great point about 'what if?'

Whore your bum out Matt, keep both cars, it'll be worth the 'ring sting'!

Yup, couldnt agree more
I'd agree with that too, except I wouldn't give anything for it... atall. Not even the speedo is right.

On top of that its got a worse moss problem than my back lawn.

"Half leather interior ”“ code: "0345 Silber" cloth with black leather bolsters and headrests."

Isn't that the code for the lighter interior with the grey/silver dash and half leather?

I personally think £17k is stretching it too, would be good to see if it goes for that.

If i were to be honest Matt, a man in your position, with obvious skills i wouldn't hessitate. I know you've put your heart and soul,blood/sweat/tears into your outsanding sport, but knowing you, you'd be doing the same to an m3 ending up with an equally outstanding example. Having gone through this, you'd aquire the same level of fondness for the m3.

When i was e30 shopping, i always wanted the m3, but as a weekend toy couldn't justify the premium. Money not been an issue, i'd be driving the m3 (and probably divorced lol) as much as i love the sport, i'd have no issue in selling.

As said, a man with your skills, can afoord to buy mid range and restore, where as if iwas to do that, i'd be skint.

Hope it helps? you never know, theres a 100 million up for grabs friday, you may still be able to have your cake and eat it lol.
