i've now got a set of 16's which i intend to refurb and cover in looooow profile rubber... (something like 40 profile)

now, as i need some decent stiffer shocks i've got that itch again... 40mm...? 60mm...? 80mm! that's it!!!

Jamex do a 80mm dropped kit for Ԛ£220 ;) that also do -60 -40 80/60 60/40 etc etc and all for the tourer too!

i'm prepared for some hassle with speed bumps etc but i did once have a 318i which got lowered (the brutal way), to approx 70/60 (measured) and that was useable so i reckon with some decent shocks it would look the dogs danglies!

anyone lowered the'r E30 this much, or seen any pics or anything?

also, i assume offset rear bushes will be in order?

kits are here: http://www.topgear.co.uk/acatalog/BMW_S ... n_Kits.php

dude 60mm is plenty, if you went 80mm you are asking for trouble, yeh it looks nice but trust me you are gonna come across some major problems, speed ramps etc... you gotta watch out for that sump too!! 60mm looks absolutly amazing and would look really tidy with a set of 16's im dropping mine tomorrow with 17's and i know its gonna look the dog nackers

i know it's gonna be a pig... i'm used to it though!

i used to run a mk2 rs2000 on coilover billies. about 3.5" drop at the rear, 4.5" at the front... on 350lb springs! i've never owned or been in a car that handles as well since!

some piccies of yours at -60 would be interesting...

60mm is the max i would go, depends how good the roads are where you live really, i have a couple of level crossings not too far away and they are leathal for cars lowered too much, as is retail park that has halfords on they have mental speed humps, how they expect guys with modified cars to get to halfords is beyond me.

if you lower that much m8 think about your wheels rubbing
you may need smaller wheels as well
all a bit severe but will look like a go-kart
go for it if thats what you want
good luck m8

i suppose, as long as i can still got over those small rubber speed bumps, i can avoid roads with the HUGE bus bumps that hastings council like!!!

if you don't know these things: think 6" high, 45Ԛ° up and down ramps, 5 feet long. thay go right across the road with gaps so anything as wide as a bus gets over without hitting them. in the real world, an e30 will just about put a wheel each side and when passing over them, the front will drop off the far side before the rear goes up. this means you're sat on your sump/exhaust/diff/sills/prop!!! i avoid them at the moment anyway so it's not a big problem!

does anyone have pics of E30s (pref on 16" alpinas!!) lowered to KNOWN amounts? i can find a lot of piccies or lowered E30s but can't often find out how much!
