thanks for the heads up mate
Mine was lowered by 120mm when I got it, it looked like the back axle had collapsed, and had roughly three inches of ground clearance. I could get my hand under, but not my wrist. There's another problem with very lowered cars. The drive shaft angle is altered, and over time it wears the diff out.

Oh stop being a pansy and posting this Magpie! If you're going to lower your car lots then you know whats going to be coming! Once your car is properly low, then come back and complain! 60mm all round is the starting point to get an E30 low, I vote time to move on!
Cloud - any idea how it was down that low? Was the engine raised at all? What shocks were on there to stop the springs dislocating when jacked? (Or were they just cut and held in place with jubilee clips?)

Is that how you qualify your sexual partners. You look for a 35mm drop and think; "Hmmmm I'm in here, if it's a guy..."fuzzy wrote:35mm is for homosexuals and women. real men go for 60/40. and thats a scientifically proven fact.
60mm is the preferred option for Buckfast drinkers, chavs and text speak clowns.

Perhaps I need a Cosworth conversion to help me deal with my trauma?

60/60 is low enough for the uk roads
I'm sure I've got some pics somewhere. I think I got rid of the springs, they're certainly not on the car any more. They were about the size and shape of five stacked digestive biscuits. Also, the rear shocks/dampers were broken (no wonder why) which meant it sat basically as low as it could. Weirdly, the fronts don't seem to have been lowered at all. This is the kind of rubbish I'm sorting out with my resto project. The previous owner was a complete berk, with obviously even less of an idea what he was doing than I've got. Seriously, it came with a cross-ply tyre. I think that says it all.

I've seen a few 60-40 dropped cars and they all look a bit different, some really good and some just weird and wrong.
Not in E30s any more

Imo opinion 60mm isn't too low for every day driving, however it will fuck up the handling unless you have camber correction top mounts and rear beam.

If you don't mind bouncing off the bump stops. You virtually remove all of the dampers travel. It'll not be able to dampen the impact from driving on our 'wonderful' road network, thus comprimising handling!oldroydsr4 wrote:Imo opinion 60mm isn't too low for every day driving, however it will **** up the handling unless you have camber correction top mounts and rear beam.
