I get 300 miles outta Ԛ£30 without too much trouble in my 316i
I think around 25mpg is what a healthy 325i should get with a mixture of town and longer journeys, which is about 180 miles?

The 316i really is a good first E30 though, insurance and economy very reasonable for a BMW.
Also lets you get used to RWD instead of jumping straight into a 325 and writing that off! So it's all good
Nothing against 325s though, will own one as soon as the insurance is reasonable

I took the manifold off mine recently and cranked the engine.
The jets are supposed to fire out a fine mist, no such luck.
It looks more like a set of water pistols firing across the engine bay.
I think it's time i got them cleaned ( or replaced, Ԛ£450 from BMW woo hoo).
And that was after a whole bottle of redex.

If you get them cleaned it should pay for itself in about 4 week at the mileage you do.

I've heard an ultrsound clean is about Ԛ£50 on here but have never actually got a quote, And that was with them already removed from the car which is an easy job if your spanner friendly.

Think you got problems with that one
Just kidding.....out of interest how many miles has your 316i got on it? It seems for some reason that there's a bit of a correllation between high mileages and good economy, so I'm interested

Considering you're "not shy" I guess getting 25mpg kinda supports my theory.....will be interesting to see what Bob S says his mileage is....TOURINGDADDY wrote:mines a 325 wid 192000 on it

Ive got a 323i with 128K on the clock, had it 5 months, put in Ԛ£120 of petrol and got out 645 miles...
I always use super unleaded (97/98) I think you really notice the difference on older cars.
I took it for a drive round some of the local back roads a week or so ago and I recon it was at around 6/7 mpg for about 30 miles!

Mileage is nothing to do with it.
