:chuckle: viscus fan

i might see if badboy has one when i get to his at the weekend. im getting a manual 325i prop of him :D

im amazed at how much space i have! i feel much better with it being back there but my prop doesnt fit so this 325i one better or i will have to move the lump forward and i DONT wanna do that.

i welded a bracket on the mani last night, i must say my welding has got much better!!! i got a few tips from a mate :D i will put pics up either tonight or tomorrow as i have to clean the flat tonight :(

wire cutter :squint: ok i will bring them over tonight. do you have mine? i cant find them but i found yours :D

the engine loom is 90% done now 8) just need to extend the AFM connector and thats done.
going to B&Q tonight i think for some hose clips, some elctrictions tape and some of those wire connector things to finish the jobe and get all the cooling plumbed in.

its just bits and bobs now which take a bit of time but i will have it done for the pod!!! i have too! ive missed too many dead lines and i wanna nail it down the strip!

see you there gooner :D if all goes well carl will be there in his cab......will bring the welder tonight carl and the wire cutters hehe

but not that gutted :)

bit gutted you wont be there, carl said the same.

enjoy the holiday man.

update:

with some help from jaffro (once again) i have a prop that fits!!! its almost bolted on but the rain was getting our legs too wet so we stopped with that and welded the mani bracket in the right place this time.

my girlfriend said that strange blue light from the garage is making the lights in the house go mental :teehee:

she hates my car.

so:
- finish the prop tonight,

- heat shield

- put exhaust on. need to cut a bigger hole in the body as right now it can only fit a 1.8 pea shooter.

- bleed the cooling system

- make sure leccy fan does teh job and the wires dont melt.

- pump almost flat tyres up.

- take for a drive to see if it works

- put things back together like the air box/filter, washer bottles

- get some working rear shocks on

- mot

i will tick the list as i go. i will be happy if evrything but shocks and mot is done by friday.

carl told me about that..... i might have a go 8)

the full systems should be empty cause i disconnected the rear frame. cheers man you were a big help with that :D

right now im having a few issues with the exhaust system :banghead:

got a great m3 system of gooner but the problem with the system is how far apart teh twin pipes are spaced. i though it might be an issue but its a right pain.

me and carl made a flange and joined the down pipes to it (see pics in thread) but its a pain getting it on and now its hitting a lump on the block.

i think its a casting part and carl agress so i might just cut it off  also the steering rubber joint is too close. would not have been a problem with the engine in position 2. this engine should not be in an e30!

might see if i can take the steering mec off and switch the bar around so the rubber bush is at the bottom??? would solve the issue if it can be done.

list is getting smaller but not quickly :? teh exhaust has been an absolute bitch!

it still needs work, its not hung right and i had to stop as the terrential rain stopped all proceedings. still worked for 20mins but i was drenched.

here is a vid, its abit dull but its aint bad. m3 exhaust sounds great! still got plenty of noise to it :D

http://s209.photobucket.com/albums/bb13 ... V00053.flv

enjoy.

got a bit of an issue though which i could do with some help with.

i made a flange to fit the m3 flange. problem is, its a good 5mm thick but its still not clamping enough. so there area few gaps as teh 4 bolts cant clamp enough around the the 2 tubs.

cant figure how to solve it? it was blowing bad but its not so bad now. still blowing though.

can you get exhaut gaskets? i want one like the mani gaskets, with teh metal around the hole. can they be bought??? might just butcher a set of iS mani gaskets i have sitting around???

yeah i see what you mean.

i have just bought a ring for the mani to down pipes but dont think about getting them for this thing cause the 2 plates that join are flat. well almost.

maybe they could work??? it would just mean the 2 flanges would not be pressed near each other as the rings would space them.

hum?

i have some ally which i could cut to teh shape but i dont think they would be thick enough?

i will grab some and test it cause those rings sound like a cracking idea. just need to get ones that are 2.5 inch of goodness.

bodger i think i need to ask you about that mot place you go??? do you fancy borrowing my m30 for a day

right the pod desperations failed and i didnt get it done. this is what i was doing:

using teh m3 exhaust it meant teh down pipes were spaced out about an inch. :? major probs:

hitting a bit on the engine
Image

another pic
Image

again
Image

so cut that off no problem.
but the big problem was it hitting teh suspension lolly pop:

Image

too close for me and corners:

Image

time to re-route the down pipes and maybe the mani :( this took ages as i cant really do too much work by the car. i need to take parts off and go into the garage to cut and weld. what a pain.

pics are good so here it goes:

bad welds but I really wanted to get done for the pod and it the best i can do.

not bad welds
Image

so i had to cut slits and bend the mani and the down pipes. bend and twist
Image

Image

dont know what i was up to here
Image

Image

Image

Image

bit of a clean up and filled a few holes

Image

Image

now on the car:
really happy with this
Image

love the bends
Image

Image

doesnt hang too low.
Image

all that made me miss the pod

after that i thought its time to go nuts. lets think of the cooling :D

cut a big hole
Image

use the panel that was cut out to make a paddle to force the air up to the rad. more welds
Image

Image

run a layer off filler and some filler primer
Image

Image

job done nice and pretty
Image

will get some black mesh on it later.

messed about with ecu and chips.....

well jaffro was round and i was using 320i chipped ecu to run it and it ran pretty rough :? so jaffro had teh bright idea to put my speedtouch 335i chip in the 320i ecu and happy days :D rund as smooth as you could dream for :P

final things to mess about with then mot time 8O

 you know you love me........ actually i bet you hate me.

thanks again old boy.

yes the touring was a 2.5 for about 2 or 3 weeks and then the m30 got dropped back in again and this time with a 4.1 small case diff. again.

kevo is on the case for a LSD rebuild i just need to get that sorted. anyone got a very cheap good condition medium case diff? i need some bearings :D

i enjoyed the drive back from jaffro's, it was eventful..... the shot story is i forgot to tighten the wheel nuts up.....ah we have all done it once or twice :o: i only lost one nut.

actually as i pulled over to fix it an e28 alpina b35 was pulling off his drive :P i gave him a BIG thumbs up and he BOOTED it away!!!! i wanted to give chase and let him know i have a 3.5 too but i still had to get my wheel back on.

eventful.
