Not much help I guess, but the "88" bit shows that it was cast in March 1988. Are there some more numbers cast into it ie xxxx 885 (where xxxx is 4 digits)?

yep got them numbers too is there anyone who can shed any light on the other numbers though its stamped by the people who done the work on it with a rubber plug stating its gauranteed been hanging about for ages but i know if I do sell it mr hellmans will be round the corner

It's a standard plastic bumper 325i head. The 2.7 bit is because the last Chrome bumper 325e (2.7 Eta) cars sold in Europe and USA used the 325i head as opposed to the crap standard Eta head. It was made in 1988.
