ok, the missus might be getting this job she has applied for, she will get a company car with it.. shes on about selling her car and she wants me to sell mine
we put the money together and get a dirty six m3(3.0 4 door
) the trouble is... im not really into moooooore doors and i dont want to sell my car(obviously when i do sell it, it will be mint) but the 286bhp is very appealing!
what would my fellow zoners do?

Sell!
Well it all depends on whether you like it or not I suppose.. but I'd go for the M3 if you can afford to maintain it.
Take one for a spin? (Or at least sit in one)

Aaah!!!!, see the honeymoon's over then Tim. If your car is just for pleasure, and taking it for granted Mrs Schnitzer get,s the job and car, then why would you need to sell yours?

Why should you have to sell your car mate?
If she has some company wheels then she is sorted.
Although an E36 M3 is a better car on all levels, it is a whole different ball game as far as maintenance and upkeep is concered. So budgeting £4-5K for a properly sorted example, you are still going to be into big bills on the service & upkeep side of things.
If I was to get an E36 M3 I would probably go for a 4 door car, prefer the looks, i.e more subtle and rarer too.

E36 M3 all the way. A decent one is a superb thing to drive, still feels modern and has all the performance you'll ever need. The saloon is a lovely sleeper barring the gash fake wood trim.

If she wants to sell her car thats up to her - but why should you be pushed into selling yours ? - Thats your choice to make e30bmlover not hers !
I made that miskate once - let a now ex-girlfriend talk me into selling the 2.8i Capri in my sig - to use as funds towards buying a house. Sold the car and we split up a few weeks later. Huge mistake.
Sell it when you want to fella - not when someone else wants you to.

ah indeed... the honeymoon period is over! the problem is she will be getting a company van! i will be gutted if i have to sell mine... iv spent thousands on it
... plus i dont think i will be schnitzering the dirty six up either.. she said a 4 door m3 because its more practical, i must admit i am drawn to the darker yellow m3's for some reason but if i can find a estoril blue one
with less than 90k on the clock with fsh... the jobs a gooden! i think the m3 dosent have traction control.. i did ask the missus if she could handle a m3, i said its allot different to your 1.6 astra and my b25. another must for the m3 is... its got to have ''bmw motorsport'' on the rear spoiler light.
if she dosent get the job then im safe but if she does.....i suppose i had better get mine ready to be sold

Perhaps,e30bumlover,your 'er indoors is trying to be a little subtle about the Schnitzer kitted up 320i...

haha, I think daimlerman has nailed it!
there are plenty of options out there for a fast and stylish family car. At least she isn't insisting on a megane scenic like my sister in law..

true.... but the only thing 320 left on my car is the rear drums and gearboxdaimlerman wrote:Perhaps,e30bumlover,your 'er indoors is trying to be a little subtle about the Schnitzer kitted up 320i...
i doubt many people have shown the commitment to a car like i have... its got the right number of doors, the right colour, the right wheels and its been maintained regardless of cost... you should see the amount of receipts i have for genuine parts.
as for the schnitzer kitted 320 remark... this option was avaliable to all e30 models from the dealer.... so no... it wont look out of place.
so... if(its a pretty big if) and when i decide to sell it, the buyer will have him/her self a lovely e30... and i also reserve the right to who i sell the car to... just so she dosent get in the wrong hands.

I thought this was the 320 you'd never sell.
Vadar didn't come in the 4 doors I don't think? Also never seen a dakar yellow 4 door either. I'd sell my e30 straight away for an e36 m3 if it wasn't for the insurance. But I thought this e30 was your ultimate car

ture... but she knows i dont like taking more than 2 people in my car at any one time.. and i dont take her long distances to keep the milage down... but if she has a company vehicle and sells her astra i will have to take her mother places and shit like that... do the family thing.. she knows im not into that shit.... there is nothing worse than carting her mother and nan about on a sunday to take them to my brother inlaws... i did it once in my e30 and they didnt even put the @ucking seat belt holders back where they are ment to be OR straighten the seat belts up!! bolloks to that i said.... and havent done it since.
come to think of it... i would have to do it in the m3... sorry but i dont want her mother anywhere near my e30 or the m3 if i decide to sell it.. i know i will have to put the fear of god into her! drive it like iv stole it when she is in the car... and if they complain about the speed... i will tell them to hit the @ucking road.

minuses... i will have no e30
my schnitzer bits that have taken me an age to get will be gone
carting the mother inlaw about.. depression will set in.. all i need now is a set of gallows up the garden and the jobs a gooden!
minuses... i will have no e30

Tim dont be p*ssy wipped by the mrs! Who wears the trousers in your gaff? An E36 M3 does appeal especialy over an E30 with B25 powering it but just do what YOU want to do.
Can she not afford to by a cheap run about to use? Is the company vehicle a van or car? If its a car the i can understand her wanting to sell the Astra due to the higher taxes on a company car but if its a van then the tax is lower so surely its still affordable for her to have a car?

Vadar seats in M3 coupe's only, sports seats in saloon and cab M3's.
If you want Vadar (I would) then budget another £500 for the interior
, or just buy a coupe in the 1st place with a 3.2 engine !

In fact, I don't think I've ever come across a 3.0 M3 with Vadar seats, they may be (originally) Evo's only....
