Mine had Bottletops when I got it and although I thought it looked OK I much prefer the 15" BBS I have now. Paid £80 for them with 2 good tyres and then a further £60 for 2 new tyres off Ebay - Falkens all round 205/55/15.Flozman wrote:I have just ordered some springs from Race dynamics, I was thinking about a 60/60 drop but i think the rear camber might be an issue.
I'm thinking about getting some bottle tops, not everyone faves but they are what the car would have come form the factory with in those days.

Why not be different, and remain 'Grandmaster Flash on the Wheels of Steel'?

Bottletops are for bottles. BBS will look great. Or some genuine Hertges or Alpinas.

Not sure, something to do with weight balance I think, as the 325i has a bit of extra weight up front (oil cooler, thicker struts and ARBs, etc.), BMW engineers decided to relocate it to the back. Touring 325i however has it in the front.

i wouldnt say its an ugly car more a 5 pinter .a plain jane . a scrub up and some bits and bobs added and itll be much better. you will be able to remove the paper bag from your head when driving as you wont be embarrassed to be seen by your mates riding her.
Completely agree. Some modest changes and your thereJon_Bmw wrote:Its the colour, its not very inspiring really is it. No offence meant of course.![]()
Some 15" BBS would look very period on that and it would be 100 times nicer in my opinion. Maybe some M tec suspension to give it a small drop as well.
I wouldn't class it as ugly, just need some better wheels I reckon. The alloys you have are too modern a design for a chrome bumper, even a plastic bumper would struggle to pull those off. And steelies, well they always look shite!

Flozman- I had the curled exhaust tips on mine when I bought it. However for ultimate old school effect I think you have to get the 'Slashed Tip' chrome exhaust trims. Because I'm tight with my money I bought a suitable length/diameter chrome pipe off ebay and took an angle grinder to it, if you're feeling more flush you can buy em from BMW.

The ONLY thing that bugs me on the earlier cars is the back end underneath the bumper, the rear panel does not seem to extend down far enough so you see all the guts, i.e. exhaust backbox and spare wheel well.
Stick out like bollox on a bull dog
