Seriously clean engine bay there matey, Got to love a clean engine, every credit for doing it, and not going to a "pro". Keep up the good work, go to feel content knowing you did it all yourself.

Regards Mark.

Just changed the head. It looks identical to the head which came off it though as I had a good look before sending the old one back as exchange.
Hope its ok! Everything has fitted fine.

Just used the same cam and stuff from the old head as it was all in good condition and was nice and quiet before the head went.
I cant understand how its got an old style bottom end though if it does!

I cant wait to get it sorted. I could have done it all in less than a week If I took the time off work but Ive been so busy Ive only been able to do bits and pieces every so often.

Karan I think the water pump was about 30 or so from GSF. Its identical to the one that came off it except it doesnt have the BMW logo.

I just replaced mine whilst the head was off - Ԛ£21+VAT from GSF. At that price, it's silly not to replace it.

Adam - you have my admiration for tackling this yourself. I cheated and got the garage to do it. Hope it all goes well for you - bet you cant wait to start her up again!

its a heated debate... but u shouldnt use engine flush on ure engine as it is old.... and may get rid of deposits which are not a problem but actually helping ure lump

id just use the cheap oil....run it for a bit, go for a drive and get it nice and hot and then the new stuff!
