so im in the mood for a car change again..... were coming into a little money (due to the unexpected loss of a family member)
was thinking of an 2000ish e46 330d touring for around 4500-5000, with 100k ish
whats peoples opinion of these???
mechanically..... whats likely to have already gone wrong and fixed? and whats guna go wrong on these further down the road? :?

You'll have a job to find a decent one at that price. In the end I went for petrol because I was scared of the diesel's long term reliability. Paid £8k for a Msport one with sports leather and 85k. That was before the crunch bit though, you may do better.

Just been poking around and remembering why I changed my mind from diesel :)
Pre-facelift 330 is 184bhp, and the later diesel is 204bhp but comes into the proposed new car tax ratings.

330i Petrol was 231bhp from introduction in 2000, no turbo, less to go wrong but of course fuel consumption is heavier - but much better than an E30 :D

well i had a look on autotrader at them before posting....... 5k seemed reasonable to find a decent one..... i like them tbh. driven an e39 330d touring at work the other week.... seemed faster than my 325i touring.

we'll see how it goes.... me and the mrs have debts to pay off first, but should be left with 10k at least after thats all paid off.......... id rather have her dad back tho. (heart attack) :(
