Can someone help before the car goes to scrap.

its a e30 316 1.8 carb engine.

It was running fine, then one day it wouldnt start, so i pushed it up the road to a mates house, had a look on here and saw suggestions it might be the fuel pump. So the next day i went to look at it, and it started 1st time.

A few days later, it was stuggling to start, then it started and run fine for two days.

Then the next day, it started fine, i moved it across the road to move cars around my driveway, and went back to it, and it hasn't started since.

I tried a new fuel pump (£20) but removing hte old one it seemed to work fine, and it still wont start. I tried a new fuel pump relay (£10) still wont start.

Any suggestions?

I think it will be more cost effective, i can just imagine throwing lots of money at it, but the shell isn't the best either, so its not really worth it :(
