havent bought it yet but will do if my insurance is cheap. the quotes consist of me being 2nd driver and my dad being the first. i am 21 with no no claims bonus.

on moneysupermarket i got 3 reasonable quotes which range between £400-£600 .

when i rang the 1st company to check if the quotes were genuine the lady goes we dont insure named drivers that are under 25 but moneysupermarket didnt tell me that.

The 2nd company said the same. still got one more to ring them up and check if it is a genuine quote but now im thinking of not ringing them up and just pay them over the internet via moneysupermarket. lolzzz.

what shall i do ?

Well that kind of money is expensive just to prevent the car being pinged by the police, for that money I'd actually want some insurance; so I personally wouldn't just buy the insurance and ignore the small print. You wouldn't get very far pleading innocence and you might even find investigators reading that post, if you are in an accident the police might let you off driving without insurance if you convinced them but the insurance company is not going to pay out, better not critically injure anyone. Also if you are a named driver you want to make sure that you can explain how you aren't the main driver, a friend had a claim rejected on that one (he took the car to uni).

It's not big or clever to drive without insurance.

325i isn't going to be cheap to insure at your age, but it is possible to get decent quotes.. The only thing going against you is the lack of NCB..

Have you tried elephant or admiral? Try them with a parent as a named driver..
Got cable ties? Get diffin..

21 with e car insurance on a 318is was £270 a year TPF+T on my own policy and 3 years no claims discount. Best postcode group.

They wanted a further £38 for a 325i mid way through the policy, so say £350 for a whole year. About to renew soon on the iS. Bye Bye £250.

Not bad at all. Still be careful, if you have a serious accident insurance companies have been known to do more devious things than finding threads like these and using them to prove you were using it as the main driver. I would advise keeping the car at the address the main driver lives in at least.

How much do Tesco want as you being the main driver. If its an extra £200 or less I would go with that, you'll actually be driving around with a useful bit of paper and you'll earn no claims discount.

im going to stick with the £340 quote from tescos .

i might buy the car today. what do you guys do to buy the car from the seller i.e. document wise ? (ive checkd the rusts and other stuff which is all good cos i saw it last week) .

do i need to tell dvla that the cars registered to me ? do i need to get the seller to sign any sections on the logbook or do i need to sign anything on the logbook ?

If you are going with the dogey insurance its best to put it in your dads name as the insurance will generally want him to be the registered keeper. You need to check the chassis plates all match the v5, although doing this directly in front of a seller is a bit naughty imo. Check all of the plates and the front scuttle where it is marked. Ideally make sure the address on the v5 is the door you are knocking on! Don't meet in a carpark  The seller should know which sections to fill out. 8O You'll have to fake your dads signiture if he is not present, not hard :D

thats a good quote, just make sure its all legit, they will try anything the smallest detail not correct so they dont have to pay out.
