hi guys , im just wondering if any of you have and idears or have seen a product that can help me , as you can see the turbo is around 4-5 " away from the manifold flange , i have thought about fitting an ebay spacer, but there straight an the turbo will be in the middle of the bonnet ,
turbonetics sell centered turbine houseings ,but by the time i have bought one an shipped it i may as well get a turbo from tcd that will fit , the only way i can think of doining it is by getting 2 t4 flanges and gettins someone to weld up some sort of tube at an angle :(
sorry about the crap pics in advance

now im about to have an exhaust made up so its doin my head right in so much that i have bought another turbo and a fleabay manifold wich fit well , but because the turbo will be in a different place with each maifold with different turbine fittings , i gotta sort it out any advice or input is greatly welcomed
some quick pics of 2nd set up

Nice big snail you get there mate. What you running?

Is it the housing doesnt clear the cylinder head? Guessing you have tried mounting the turbo the other way round? For it being a offset e/h you might be able to favvam it that way? Me an ant from a-tech where thinking about doing that on mine so its less hassle on the exhaust.

The only thing i could suggest is to have the manifold modified but i dont know your tolerances.

If anything give Ant at A-Tech a call, proberly your best person to talk to about this.

Let me know how you get on

For the tcd manifold.
get yourself some T4 flanges made up and then make an adapter from the manifold to the turbo.
Situate the turbo where you want.

Remember to use thick steel for the pipe adapter and brace the turbo.
With great challenges comes great engineering.

hi phil , there is two turbos there , a garrett gt40, and a garrett t04b
and yeah it is the compresser houseing that stops it but it would all hit even if i removed it, i have tryed it backwards and it hits the inner wing
and i have thought about calling ant , the trouble is the distance between his place and mine :(

gunni ,that was the only way i could relly think of as well , its gonna have to be .

Just makes it madder having to cut the wing to fit a turbo!!

The only one that i could think is how gunni has said. Will it pretrude from the bonnet if you do make an adaptor? That is if you want to run the manifold from picture 1? I know Ant can modify manifolds as hes going to be fitting a wastegate to mine, so he might be able to shed some more light on the situation.

But correct me if im wrong, is there no way of being able to rotate the compressor housing so the compressor outlet is facing horizontal? As by the looks of the photo that is what is causing your main issues?

hi phil to be honest the two t4 flanges is the only way it will work even if i completely remove the compresser houseing the turbo will still hit the head , so i think im gonna use the ebay manifold untill it cracks , by then i will have one of my lower compression engines with head studs ready ,the engine in the car at the moment is just for me to pratice my maping skills lol or lack off

You´ll be fine with the adapter you just have to angle it away from the engine thus not really raising the turbo that much just moving it´s center about.

that is what i think im gonna do ,i was a bit worried about takeing the wieght of the turbo past the manifold but it should be ok witha surport
, out of intrest how does a tcd stage 3 turbo compressor map compare on air flow compared to a garrett t04b -vtrim

A stage 3 is a GT35R compressor
so you can check out www.turbobygarret.com and check.
The GT35R will do LOTS of power easily.
I´ve installed one on a E30 with a TCD manifold(bottom mount)
it´s making full boost mid 3k in all gears.
With great challenges comes great engineering.

I´d rate them fairly equal. the adapter probably slightly better for final output.

I don´t think that´s going to work when the radiator goes in and you fit a air filter.,

the turbo needs to move more to the right and at the same time angled so that the compressor points towards the lights.

If you just angle it the turbine outlet will be to close to the head. So it needs to move to the right as well.
Your almost there :)

its gonna be tight but in going to put the airfilter just in front of the front wheel , im gonna cut a hole in the metal behind the headlight and feed it down there , im havein the exhaust built on sat and the wireing for the megasquirt is nearly done so im close yeah

will you be able to get a short radius bend then to clear the radiator.
