Ok, I have told my mate that i will do his front pads on his e46 he wasnt going to pay me but insited i take his 2 ton axle stands and his hydraulic bottle jack, brand new and unused..... not going to complain about that.

Before I tackle this, what are the torque settings for the front caliper bolts please and where are the wear sensors? Are they like the e30 with left front and right rear or on all four or what?

Thanks in advance!!!

Had a look and they appear to be

30 N:m for the 7mm allen head bolts
67 N:m for the rear caliper carrier - hub
123 N:m for the front caliper carrier - hub

Thats listed for all models after 1982, might be slightly different for the E46 but i wouldn't have thought so.

Hope thats of some use :)

A long cracker bar and a socket that fits right should see them shift, i can't imagine there being any bolt snappage on a car as recent as an E46 though.

The carrier bolts might be tight all the way out though if they are threadlocked.

this might sound relly thick but what is threadlocked, do you mean cross threaded?

I dont have a cracker bar but sounds like an idea
