How low is everyone.....

and how have you done it? and what with?

As all i can find is 35mm springs and im not 100% sure there for cabs!

As i understand cabs are a lot heavier on the rear! so would just like to know what everyone is running

Many Thanks
Adam

I'm using a G-Max (not the best, but I can't afford anthing else as it keeps going wrong!)

I have a 35/40 drop. I would'nt go any lower, miine was originally 60 drop (done by the guy who owned it before, he cut the springs )
The 60 was too low for the roads round here. I haven't changed the shocks but have changed the top mounts. Once the shocks on there go then I'll probably up rate them.

I'm sure any would fit, but the cab ones are different due to the weight.

ok do you have any big pictures of how your car sits on the wheels and shows the diffrence?

But with 60mm why do you say it was too low? was it catching on everything?

Apex 60mm springs and shocks all round on my old convertible. Looked great, but hard and bouncy as hell... Buy another make.

Giles.

Here is my 35/40, I don't have any pics of it originally though.
As for why 60 was too low, it kept catching the speed bumps. As it is last weekend, the missus broke the exhaust on a speedbump that she didn't see! To be fair the exhaust was on its way out, she just bent the brackets and split the join!!! :x

which do you want? 'look' or performance?

Don't forget BMW M-tech division only lower the car by 15mm.. I think we can all agree they knew what they were doing.

Hartge lower slightly more but ONLY at the front giving a nose-down attitude (Hartge reckon this gives the best handling) - look at www.birdsauto.com the E30 section if you want a picture of how my cab sits (the picture is not a cab I know :D )

I achieved this on the cheap with AVO springs; they are quite good. www.avouk.com part number 10-007 (it says lowers all round by 25mm, but that is not the result)

I might get a full Hartge kit when the stock shocks give up.

Bradz... be careful. I fitted genuine BMW OEM mudflaps on mine to finish it off. The car was so low that on a newly re-laid motorway with new cats-eyes, everytime I changed lanes, the cats-eyes would catch the front mudflaps and more often than not, flick off the clips... now that's low!

Just be careful. 40mm would be more practical, but 60mm looks cool! 8)

when you say 17s would raise the car, I don't understand....

the wheel/tyre combo should add up to the same diameter, otherwise you might have different issues...
so 205/55/15 and 205/50/16 and 205/45/17 all equal the same diameter - this is a good thing.

Also the offset on those wheel is IMHO wrong for the E30?

ps whether you like the look of those wheels or not, if you have 45 profile on them, the first pothole will result in a bent rim; you get what you pay for with wheels, and 50 GBP per wheel ain't enough, even if they are made by Wolfrace, and I say 'if'.

HI

My car has cutom springs, they were compressed.

I initially had 40mm all round using Koenic springs. But seriously the back is heavier you no why. so my car looked kinda wierd

anyways i later compressed my original springs, now the car rides like a dream, no problems over any speed bumps. I made it 35 back and 40 in the front.

40mm cab Pi springs, cheap and cheerful (and i have already been told they are cheap tat fit only for a Nova!) but my thoughts were to drop it 40mm to see if it is practical (speedbumps potholes etc) and it was, 60mm for me is too much, my plan was to fit a set of spax but now the pi's are on seeems ok (for cruisin anyway) plus like the nose slightly down look! and best of all like the budgie, they are cheap!!
