just a few more pics as the car gets slowly built back up

Image

as you can see the bootlid is not sporting the M3 spoiler, however it is going back on it and you can just about see it in one of the pictures ;)

I just think the back looks a little lost without it so prefered to keep it, at least for the time being.

Your car is looking really good, congrats, cant wait to see her finished.
With regards to the hood, are you going to put the material over the top of the windscreen back?
I have seen it without, but to me it doesnt look right.

The materials definetly going back on. I managed to get hold of a brand new piece of genuine pre cut material from BMW for a few £££'s which amazed me really considering the age and the fact that it was baur that did the conversion, etc.

haha, well I looked at my wheels earlier today and they are not true split rims so it would be possible to paint them but you would have to cover up the fake split look bolts, etc.

Looking at it in the picture I cant see it looking right so I think its going to be a pass from me.

Hey guys

Just a quick update of progress. I have got the bonnet and all glass in apart from the front screen which is going to be sorted out shortly thanks to a few friendly off the books RAC glass people :P

Put the roof on as well. I could do with another section in truth due to one or two fairly minor marks but it will get me through as its just me being picky :P

Image

I've also been busy removing various scotch locks and other bs wiring 'improvements' that have been made in the 20 or so years since this rolled off the production line but I'm happy to say that all that side of things is all done now so new interior in next and then I think were more or less done.

More pics soon :)

No the spoiler is going back on but if I dont like it in the end its not a problem to get another bootlid and have it sprayed up. When I look at the car in the work shop the back end just doesnt look right without a spoiler on. My view might change once I get it on though I suppose!

Its going to be one of these things where I either think 'yep thats sweet' or 'daaaaaaaaaaaaaamn'

Yes, they had a M3 Baur.

And yes, it has type II-lights...maybe because Baur had the possibilities?

But if you don't believe me, why don't you contact the BMW Baur TC Club...oh wait, then you would contact me.

That spoiler doesn't suit it imho.

The boxyness of the arches conflicts with the curves of the tech2.

Hey Jeroen

I have seen you about looks like you are connected in the baur world :) dont suppose you know a decent supplier for the rear section cover as pictured here do you?

Image

As for the tech2 spoiler on that M3 baur I wonder why they didnt stick with the proper M3 job? Seems odd to have a proper M3 shell and to convert it to a baur but do away with the correct spoiler?

@BMW Breaker: they used a M3 Cabrio-boot, because the normal boot is a bit higher. And these don't have a spoiler.

I don't have an particular adres for the cover. If you have an old one, you could get any interior-restorer to make you a new one.

You can still buy these from the BMW dealer, but they aren't cheap. 230 euro's is the price in the Netherlands.

Fortunately both my cars have a good covers (black and bleu) and have a bad one (brown) that I could use as a muster if one should be damaged.

A convertible with wider archs should NEVER have a rear spoiler.

End of conversation. :)

lol ok guys I see that the people feeling the spoiler is around 20% with the other 80% wanting no spoiler.

I will get some pictures shortly with the spoiler fitted. Unfortunetly the current lid has the holes already drilled into it for the spoiler so I have no choice really as it stands. I will then post up some pictures of it with the spoiler and if I do decide with the views on here that its not really looking good with it I will sort out another bootlid and have that sprayed to replace it!

Thats the best I can offer at the moment lol :P

Ok granted baur could have converted a M3! But the original M3 was NEVER made with the later style bigger lights. end of discussion!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
