starting problem

hi all can anyone please advise me!?
my cars a 1989 325,
cut out on me today no spluttering, fuel was low so thought it may need some, after a few hours put £3 fuel in and it started "GREAT" drove it 500yrds to petrol station filled it up came back out and it wont start again now!!!!
hhhmmmm very strange!!

Fuel pump is number 1 suspect. Test it by shorting together pins 30 and 87 of the fuel pump relay socket.

yer had an idea it may be that, were just a little baffled by why it started after putting a little fuel in, maybe just coincidental!! will try that tomorrow thanks brian.
