318i /320i engine change

hi , just wondered if anyone can point me in the right direction i have a 318i auto and thinking about changing it to a two litre want to keep it as auto. cheers john

do a M50 swap fella better deal 2.5 and 24V is they way to go IMHO

I have two cars, one has an m50 2l and the other an m40 1.8. The first is not worth the fuel economy penalty and I don't drive distances very much. Given that the e36 with the m50 is pretty much just there to break, I have the engine to swap, the equipment to do it and the insurance isn't really a problem; I still wouldn't be bothered to do the swap. If you want 6 pot go to the 2.5 otherwise swap it for the m42 or m44.

the 318i and 320i are almost identicle preformance wise and the 2.0 drinks as much as a fish

well look on the positive side, they sound good and are stronger than m40s
