ok my 316 has its problems but yesterday it made me realise why i got it.

picture the scene.

its absolutly chucking it down im coming up to a roundabout its clear so i keep going im doing only about 35/40mph as soon as i hit the accelerator hard on the turn i hear the rear wheels start to spin as the back end moves out to the left i turn to correct and for only about 3 seconds my car was drifting.

and i have to say them 3 seconds was the most exciting driving experiance of my life and i cant wait to do it again it was so

Try a 325i sport with lsd at hand and a close ratio box to help you perform better, and not to forget Billy's (the shox) keeping you nicely in control of ur destination be it forwards or sideways if u prefer!!!!!

drifting rules...... i get bored of just going round corners fast and fast in a straight line...

yeh i'm going for the doubled up clamed rear anti rollbars seeing as i'm a cheap ass and cant afford anything uprated

if you enjoyed that drifting dude you should go to a drift day and learn how to do it properely in a controlled environment then youl feel much more confident on the roads knowing you have at least some ability to control your car.

Be very careful if you do decide to weld 2 together and fit this.

The mounting points on the E30 for the rear ARB's are notoriously weak and without reinforcing them, a double withckness rear ARB will rip straight out the chassis.

I've been called special for being able to do it in the dry in my 316i.. was by accident but I know how I can get it to do it now. It's great fun watching all the hatches spinning and pissing about while you've booted it and got away from them. Something the fiesta didnt offer was a fast get away.. the beemer however.. puts a smile on my face everytime i drive it!

drift uk hold them for Ԛ£50 for a whole day practise on an airfield.....

find some steelies for the rear and use them

Just went down t' estate to light my rears up, and i have a loss of power allmost. Not sure what its telling me, but basically once i go from the clutch to the brake the power just dies. Is this the clutch worn ? It normally does it fine!

Did it in the wet tonight. think i prefer doing it in the dry, fair enough it's a bit harder to get sideways but it's loads more contrallable in the dry.

yeh the wet sucks ass cos when your going fast and you cock up it takes you ages to stop sliding.

Just throw it into the corner and dip the clutch, give it loads of revs though it will go eventually. failing that go to the scrapyard and get some tyres with 1mm tread sure that would work

Id be carefull drifting in the wet mate.
Its raining down here today, and i went out on my lunch break at work, round town for some fun. Its do'able, but unless youve got a very good set of tyres and suspension setup you will lose grip on the fronts at times, even with a good setup, if you go into a corner to quick, and slide the back out, garrented when you try to turn and correct it, somtimes the fronts will go!

Not a very nice feeling, as theres a point where you have fcuk all controll over the car!

Dry is preferable, but you need power and an LSD....

well uve gotta be slow in all the time in the wet really.... unless ure some kind of god..........as ure just gonna carry momentum...

Ex Capri owners like myself will be well experienced with kicking the back out. I find the Beamer a bit sharper than the capri, it drifts then catches at times where as the capri was so graceful at spinning the back out and going round corners sideways.

I find it easier to go slower then whip the steering left then right, slam on the throttle and away she goes sweet!!
318i M40, open diff thats all i've got and it can still be fun especailly when the misses screams and grabs hold of anything she can

No! I got a right earfull a few weeks back. Small mini roundabout, hump in the center all covered in water from the little shower we had. Full lock right,bit of gas and it came out like a good'en, she went absolutley mad. Wouldnt stop for the nxt 5 minutes about how i drive like a chav and im dangerous and she dosnt like driving with me when its wet....

I was already counter steering to leave the roundabout so it snapped back in pretty quick. Have to admit it scared the living **** out of me as I was not expecting it! With 205/60/R15's on the back and 105bhp I wasnt ready for the rear end to go places!

However on my current car (a 320Ci E46 coupe) I have fun hanging the back end out a little round a roundabout on the way to work sometimes - its good fun and leaves you with a big grin on your face, its more fun when its wet - but a tad scary when its icy as all 4 wheels skid

e46 is good for a little snap here and there... but u feel detached compared to in an e30

The first time i got the arse out was out of a turning, we done a full 270 degrees spin and was facing a transit so its no wnder she sh*ts herself!!
She says she alot better since then and she's got used to it but still get an ear bashing, " I don't like this roundabout, you always go fast."



Nearly every roundabout so you can understand why i might go a little deaf at times....................................................Pardon dear, did you say something

Thats true I got so much more feeling from the Touring and also the Compact in general. Didnt have the oportunity to try and get the back end out with the Touring.
