How we all getting on then?

Hey fellow boosters, how are all our projects coming along?

I've got my throttle bodies to finish (lots of laborious filing). Also ordered the tubing to make up the manifolds and entire exhaust system yesterday

Other than that, the end is drawing near, I've just got to install the fuel pump and main engine power relays for the Emerald, plus bung the connectors on the engine end of the loom and that's done!

Lastly, there's the front suspension and brakes to reinstall, and the lowering gubbins to go on the back.

Can't forkin' wait!

Sounds like it's only a matter of hours then Alex, well done that MAN!!

I'm only a few jobs away myself now, I/C and MS are both in, all bodywork mods are done. Most of my charge pipes are complete, may need a little more work on the day. So just welding the manifold flange on, making the downpipes, welding them up, tap the water temp sensor blank and fit the other sensors, TPS needs a bracket making up and the others are required to be fitted into the charge pipes so can't do that bit yet till they are mounted.

Still have RRFPR to fit and Lambda to find a home for....stick in the new plugs....wire up MS....download map....WOOOOOSH CHIRP!! LOL!

May have some success over the weekend.....fingers crossed!!

NGK BP8RES I think, I think I listed them in another turbo related thread tbh.....supposed to be 3 degress colder.....
Are you using seperate IC's then?

And yet agian I beg you to get your camera out and share with us what you're doing......

Well as ever loads of head scratching and coffie the old engines out, the engine bays clean, welded in somewhere to mount the coilpack, reinforced the front inner wing (cut for air filter), all wiring sensors ect on the engine and tested ok, hopefully depending on weather will get it in tomoro

I'm using two cossie 2wd interoolers, one for each turbo which then both feed into a plenum (Which I've also missed off the list )

only a thought,
on my quattro, the only plugs that worked any good, were the triple electrode plugs.
because as the boost increased, the spark wanted to jump different gaps.

Stop throwing more bloody questions in will ya My head has been spinning taking in all the factors involved in what is required to turbo charge a engine, far and above the most technical thing I've done on this scale. As the misses says "so basically you're gonna blow it up " I so need to prove her wrong....and I'm so close....days.....no more problems please

dont know what boost it was fozzy, as it was allready chipped when i got it,.
on the gauge though it was over a bar
rolling roaded at 240bhp

i got these plugs because it was coughing and spluttering when on boost.
when i first put them in, it was still the same.
so took them out and set the three gaps differently (15, 20 and 25 thou'
iirc).
put them back in and was never a problem after

Well, I can cross one more thing off the list: Front suspension's back on with the lowering stuff. Looks a bit odd now cos I put the 14" steelies back on for the time being and the back's still high. Looks like the 'jacked up arse' thing people used to do in the 70's

Mmmm, that is odd. The spark should've just jumped to the smallest gap when off boost, and then when on boost, it would definately have gone to the smallest gap as the denser the mixture in the cylinder, the harder it is for a spark to jump

Thats the one! There is a green e30 running around with 750bhp too, but these are running on older M-engines, not seen a E39 M5 lump with a pair of blowers yet, so Glenn you could be on for a new record if you do!!

ive seen glenns car in real life and there's a surprising amount of space...ok its a bit tight to the sides.... but i do know that a supercharger would work very very nicely as ive seen one done on an e39 m5 with internal wrk aswell to make over 1000hp....

This is a bit unlike me really, but here goes:

I saw a little vid of a motorbike powered go-kart the other day. By the looks of it, the thing was practically undrivable due to the huge surfeit of power over weight.

For the first time ever, I thought that it may actually be possible to have too much power!

400bhp is an awful lot as it is, and 2 1/2 times that could end up spoiling the experience when you have to say 10 hail Mary's before pressing the throttle pedal?

i converted a mk4 escort to rwd, using all sierra cosworth running gear, it was black with red orange and grey zebra stripes. took it to group b day at castle coombe a while back.

or are you thinking of the mk6 escort i put the e39 m5 running gear in?

i'm so annoyed i cant remember meeting ant though.

fcuk me karan that mk4 was fast, it would lose traction in most gears off the throttle
when i sold it, it was around 340bhp.
sold it to a mate of mine who was going to use it for grass-track, but i think he rattled the lump, then let it go for a grand
i ran a build thread on the old rs owners club website but i cant even remember the thread title!
my lack of memory must be due to too many accidents and smelling too much petrol!!
