andy that looks the dogs! Do you think it will fit the M42? because that wrinkle effect is on all the older engines.

Will be taking it all off to do it proparly next week just got to get hold of some gaskets.

Love that crinkle effect but i don't think it'll suit the M42, have already got some high temp matt black paint anyway.

Delmot, did you get it from the $tealers and how much, or do you fancy selling yours(has it got both clips?)? Now the lacquer is off they are silver again but most of that has come off as well?

Sorry mate don't get what you mean, what will fit the M42 ?

That VHT paint is about 7 quid a can to your door, one can should be enough to do the inlet manifold and rocker cover for a 4 cylinder motor.

Don't use any more than three coats of paint.

Rob,

Am interested in both the Cover and the Manifold, what is your price posted? And can you do the crinkle effect? Also, have any ever started peeling at all?

Just in case you are located nearby I may be able to collect, where are you based?

Cheers,

Greg

about the coroding; alluminium does goe white again if you dont look after it....

a little cloth with oil on it and passed on the strippes and leters keeps it clean.

ps ; mine is not shiny cause of oil looooooooool  sanding & polishing to miroir like ( forgot the word sorry ) stays piloshed loger even though the work to get this result is longer than just sanding

i sanded it down with 400 then 1200 paper....(with water stuff my memory again  )

then i used a product that looks like a soap and that polishes the aluminim. its like brown and bleu stuff come in rectangles usally , and you need a drill ( or high reving machine ) to aply it apon the surface... a little like polishing wood....but much much faster ......i know some one will be a lot more preceise than me :;)

Wet and dry sanding paper i think you mean.

Can you remember where you got the soap stuff from?

well i go to my local hardware store.... 8)
(castorama here in france ....)
it is meant just for that purpose....i'll try and find a link to give you an idee...

but some people do it with Belgom Alu....if you guys know that ....i just find it a little less effective on flate surfaces like that
better for the strat bar for example.... 8)

example .... it on a site i don uderstand but it the way i did it....( exepte i used a piece of flat wood & the wet sanding paper to suface everything ideally... )

Sorry for the language but its the idea 8) ( this is the link loool )

these are the soap like ( its not soap loool )
