I've just become a happy owner of a 318IS. As far as the previous owner was aware, it was said to only have an induction and exhaust as any additional mods to its factory state. However having had a closer look I've noticed the shocks are yellow. Does anyone know if these are the standard shocks on this this model or would they be after market (at a guess i would say the latter). I know it seems a silly question but I don't want to miss anything when getting it insured.

I know this is the wrong car.

I have an e36 318iS 4 door (last of the e36 on a '98 plate).

Mine had black shockers, untill i changed them for some aftermarket ones, which are also yellow.

I'm sure someone with an e30 318iS will be able to guide you with a definitive answer soon.

Regards,
Pete.

my guess is that they have been changed. If the car is lower than standard then you should declare it. Also you will find a standard bmw induction is more effective than an aftermarket one

The OE dampers made by Boge were black on the iS, they could have been changed to Bilstein who make yellow dampers.

As suggested above, the original Boge Mtech shocks are black. There are various manufacturers who make yellow ones but its pretty safe to assume they're aftermarket. That doen't necessarily mean they're massively different to the spec of the standard ones though and if they're coupled with the standard springs won't necessarily mean its anylower than stock either...

Cheers for the feedback. Yeah thought as much. Plus the rear is sitting lower than I would imagine BMW intended.
