How can u tell a LSD from an Open Diff

Hi guys, can u tell me how to tell as above as i have one but no markings.
It's a large case.

i got told to do a big wheels spin and if you leave 2 tyre marks its a lsd. i take it there is no ID tag on the box

Jack both rear wheels of the ground, spin one by hand and if the other spins in the same direction it is a LSD, if it spins in the opposite direction its an open diff.

i think im right in saying if you hold the input shaft and then turn one of the output shafts , if the other output turns the same way the one you have turned then its and lsd if it goes the opposite way then its an open diff

same as above, should spin the same way, if in doubt take the back cover off and look at the internals.

Just try and turn the output shafts in opposite directions. If you can, it's an open diff.

The standard test doesn't work for a torsen type LSD. The only way I know of to identify these is to tale off the rear cover and see what's in there.

The tag indicating the ratio has a "Z" or "S" prefix.
