Hi guys I bought some KW 60mm lowering sprin gs all round and put the rears in today. To my suprise the car sits higher then the standard springs it had? Do lowering springs take some time to settle in?
Also would this be caused by the standard shockers, would I need shoterones to accomadate the lowering springs.. im guessing I may have been better of a lowering cup kit such as H&R.
Cars a e30 325i cabby.
Thanks in Advance

Yeah pull the handbrake up, stick it in 1st and apply load, The back end should dip and help settle things.
By the way you are going to have some major camber going on.

LOL i'll give that ago 2maro morning before setting of for work, I'm ok with the camber its why I droped it 60mm.

I'll update to see how it goes. I didnt fit the fronts as I wasent sure the springs were right for the job, thou I did order them brand new and box does say 60mm front and rear.
Thanks for the heads up.

You will need to change the shocks eventually... your top mounts will go, which may lead to both rear tyres blowing out!!
I have 60mm cabby springs on my Touring, with Koni adjustables and 'ground control' top mounts.
Koni's seem to be the prefered choice for Cabbys/Tourings, with e36/Rogue Engineering/Ground Control Top Mounts.
HTH.

Just keep your ears open just in case it bottoms out on bumps, im sure you will get away with it as its not sitting that low at the moment. They might have sold you 60/40s or something. If the top mouts go its not that serious just like driving a XR2 with rusted turrents.

ive got 1.6 60mm springs on my 2.5 touring and they have a coil cut on them it is soooooooo low its mad but it looks sweet
springs can take some time to settle in and also if your old ones where origional they may well have sagged a bit which could be why it looks a little higher atm they will settle more but if your still not happy then put better shocks on and cut a coil off the spring

Well did the hand brake trick today and its gone down alittle and seems same same as the standard springs that came out. I'll see how well they settle in. I'm hoping that the old springs wernt lowring ones from previous owners lol. Anyone got pictures of 60mm drop on a cabby with standard bbs 15inch rims.

To be honest i dont think they will settle anymore now. Should be able to get four fingers in there with Standard springs and with 40mm you should have less than a fingers width of gap and 60mm the tyre should be in the arch 2cm.

Fitting 60mm springs without shortened front shocks will fail an MOT. When they raise the car the springs will become unseated and loose thus dangerous, shortened shocks solve this.

KW 60mm don't lower 60mm end of really. They just don't drop the car on their quoted amounts. Thats why it's sitting high
At the other end of the scale H&R's 60/40 drop is on the floor and a true 60mm drop all round

When I fitted (IIRC 35mm) Eibachs on mine it dropped straight away and look right as soon as the wheels were down and the car rolled a little to settle the suspension down off the jack.
It hasn't dropped since either - so I think yours is as low as it will go now...
