318iS on the Rollers today......

I want up to G-Tech motorsport in Aylesbury today for a dyno shoot out with a load of guys form the E36coupe.com forum. Great day out!

My iS managed 145.9BHP & 145ft/lb torque. Not bad, but could have hopped for more!

Beautiful M5 there managed 429BHP... i can only dream!

E30 M3 EVO got 259BHP too!

Will post scans of the print outs soon, just so you lot can explain them to me

How modified are all these cars? Those BHP figures are all higher than the cars are stock.

I assume thats a measument at the engine and not the rear wheels?

My iS has a big bore throttle body & chip

The M5 was standard apart from the exhaust

The M3 had loads of work done! remapped, cams, exhausts, etc etc was a lovely car.

All figures at the crank.

In all there were about 20 cars there, when the guys get the info up on the e36 forum i'll add a link to it.

Dude 145bhp at the crank is good! Is that with the Gumball chip?

Also i think that a full remap is needed for ther TB as when the ECU is in WOT mode it doesnt take any readings from the AFM thus the car will be a little lean up top (or the correct mixture wont occur, a performance chip might let if fuel a bit more tho) But i think that i get more responce from the TB when its not on WOT.

But still mate thats a good result!

Peronally I think we should all forget about flywheel figures from now on and just do wheels figures. Much more accurate and beter comparison

Mate Dinan are shit! they cant even get BMW approval even tho they are relatively big. All the US guys stay away from Dinan because they just hype all the work like Bexleys.

In all fairness, the dyno is state of the art and id say around half the cars
gave "standard" figures or a figure much lower than was expected

There was quite a few disappointed peeps on the day!

The E30 M3 was a track car and far from standard(road legal tho)

The M5 also had some mods to the induction side of things as well........

G Force also have a lot of tasty motors they preep and maintain, inc the usaul bunch of modded scoobs, a few Porches(inc a pure race car), a track RS500 cossie and one of those Nissan 350Z things, which there attempting to get 700brake from

They seem to know there stuff

Pete, i dont mean to pick on you here, but this totally illustrates my point im making! West/South West of London alienates 90% of the country buddy and just backs up my opinion that the south/south west/london crew arent prepared to travel. The lads from the midlands travel and so do the welsh boyos and even people like Geeman make the extra effort to drive more than 5 minutes down the road to a meet.

As i said Pete, im not tryign to pick on YOU here, as i know youve travelled to plenty of meets but the vast majority of the time, it is the south/south west boys who say "lets have it in a nice, central location.... like...erm, my back garden" Like, christ guys, you all know how to put fuel in the tank and drive..try driving more than 10 miles to a meet or stop complaining that meets are "too far away"

My car was the M5 and it has a Milltek cat-back system plus an AA CAI (they claim 25 wheel horsepower for this). Personally, I find the AA claim to be a trifle ambitious but there we are.

My car does feel very strong as compared to the other 8 M5s I have driven and is certainly producing figures in excess of stock.

As for rolling road results, I always take a philosophical view of them as there are too many variables such as ambient temperature etc etc.

As for whether G-Force's rr reads high, all I would say is that there were some stock cars not making factory figures.

I'm on an M5 forum aswell and to get an e39 M5 to give 429 bhp is near impossibale with just an exhaust.

i have an e34 m5 and the stck exhaust could be improved i think, the silencers are huuuuuuge for starters!! im sure they are efficient but they prob designed more with noise in mind i think

I do not claim to be an expert vis the E34 M5 but I believe that a Supersprint de-cat and rear box would release a few extra bhp and a tad more torque. You'll also benefit from the weight reduction!

Have you seen the Total BMW (can't remember the edition) rr day involving these cars? Some interesting results.

Scott - no offence taken. I understand what you're saying, but in all honesty, i cant see that we could ever pick a location that would please everyone in the country. In the past we've had Northern RR Days and Southern RR Days and they've both been attended by good numbers. I doubt that many people would travel more than an hour (circa 70 miles) just for a RR session. Therefore, i believe it's better to arrange regional ones and having seen the great turn-out at last weekend's meet in Surrey (same county as where i live, but it still took 45 mins to get there!), i suggested that this might be a good area to aim for. Besides, you cant realistically expect any RR facility to take on more than 10 to 15 cars in one day. If we made it central so everyone could go, we could end up with 50 or more cars - that's way too many! Just the logisitics of moving the cars around at the last Bexleys day was a nightmare.

The South/South West is a big area - Bexleys was well over an hour's drive for me and probably twice as far for the likes of Adam to get too, so we do make the effort sometimes!

So, accepting that you have a point in feeling alienated (i spent most of my life on the west coast of Scotland, so i know how you feel!), I think that we need to stick to regional sessions rather than attempt a more global one.
