yes, engine temps do not increase, under bonnet temps do. And on a 6pot with a cone style filter all that hot air is being sucked into the engine sapping power.

Once again on my 6 cylinder under bonnet temps increased when I fitted these.

I cannot see any reason why they wouldn't on a 4pot either even negligably, and for anyone who would like a before and after test I do have all the equipment available here.

Feedback from other members with them allready fitted suggests I am not the only person to have noticed this either.

I think i would like the booot ones but not the bonnet. I think they are mainly a cosmetic mod as the aerodynamic improvement would probably be very negligable at road speeds. How did the M3 vent that hot air out?

Don't know never owned one, maybe its just more thermodynamically efficient, after all every joule of energy used to create the excess heat is another joule of energy not being used to propell yourself whichis the very function of the car.

Arn't gasoline engines only 10% or less efficient at turning petrochemicals into propulsion, the rest ofthe energy is lost as heat and noise and movement in directions the engine is dampered or held.

They are cosmetic, in a rain storm you can see they are doing some good, but its all negligable IMO, unless you are a serious competitor with car to suit you would never ever notice the difference.

I used a drop of thinners on a rag..just a note they fix on the side , flush to the edge, not on the bottom and you do have a little time for adjustment before it really sets

Right fitted mine today, they look good quality and seam to seal quite well.

Tips ( or how i would do it again )

1. Clean the side of the pannel with pannel wipe.

2. Make sure yo put the "ripped" side of the seal downward

3. dont push the seal in to the dottom of the grove let it run along the top of the pannel espcialy around the corner of the boot, i just ran my thumb along the hard line and fed the seal in from the top.

if any one finds anything useful to do with the cut offs let me know :D

Any reason why they don't fit a cab properly??
I thought all boot lids were the same.

Don't want to install mine and have it looking very amateur.

normal saloons and coupés have a seal at the back of the boot so you fix the seal down the sides like the bonnet ..cabs have no seal at the back they fix all the way round and the boot seals are a bit short for this..I will see if I can get a spare bit to fill in ...let you kow shortly
