As you know I'm new to the E30, I have a few techie questions:
1. My elecric windows only work with the door open?
2. My central locking doesn't work?
3. How do the deadlocks work?
4. It's a 1990 2.0i convertible, does it have a cat, there is a big centre box, it doesn't look like a cat, but is it?
All help greatly appreciated, thanks in advance,
Adam
help please..

with regards to the electrics, check the drivers door connector they are prone to corroding giving intermitant faults

1/ Check fuse 17.
2/ Do a forum search for "red/black wire" and my username. I'm not typing all that out again at this time of day.
3/ Deadlocks are worked by turning the driver's doorkey to the horizontal position and pulling out the key in that position.
4/ Cat was an option on this model, but rarely fitted. Feel under the front battery tray. There should be a four pin round socket clipped there.
If the socket just has a blanking plug in it then you don't have a cat.
If there is a lead going on from it (to the lambda sensor), then you do.
