How much would it cost to buy and fit a fuel pump? Anybody want to do the work for a few quid, I live near Marlborough in Wiltshire.

Cheers!

I am a total novice mech and I fitted my own fuel pump. The only thing to fail in 2 years of ownership of my 318i.

Any guides on here? I am genuinely not very good with things like this! What pump would you recommend?

Hi, Ive done this job and its not hard to do but remember its petrol your playing with so no smoking. LOL :D and dont do it in the garage as the fumes do build up so out in the open air is best.

There are different types of pumps (fuel returns) so you may need to have a look at it before you order it.
You get to it by removing the back seat, on the drivers side there is a black plate you need to remove, then you can see the top of the pump and sender unit.
Clean the area as you don't want any crap falling into the tank.

undo electrical connections to pump and fuel pipes, Undo the bolts and put them somewhere safe.

You have to twist the pump anti clockwise to release it I did this by tapping it a 1/4 of a turn with a hammer and large screwdriver (some dont twist but are bolted in).
The sender unit is separate to the pump and needs to come out first which then gives you room to maneuver the pump and filter out of the tank, the filter is a small flattish mesh bag which is a a push fit so don't knock it off and loose it down into the tank!

Replace is the reverse procedure as they say,
I'm typing this from memory and I advise you to get hold of a Haynes manual, but its not a hard job and no special tools are needed just use your common sense.
Good luck mate.
