i don't know this for 100% but i'm 95% sure. It's probably the last one built ever! E36 B6 2.8 was around by the time this was built in july 92, registered 1st Aug 1992 for the first of the K plate. The reg is the original plate also

i quite like it is KATYE it's close to K11TYE fairly close anyway!

I'll have to check with sytners on it at some stage

Well a good weekend on the wagon getting ready for Gaydon, it won't be a show car but it's responding well to treatment!

I went to Trevs yesterday B7 and this is really gay but cleaned out all the arches and engine bay and a bit of love on the paintwork

It's come up very well i think considering the milege of 170k. The engine bay was very minging!

even the ally wishbone cleaned up a bit!

Then today i've clay bared it now i haven't done this to a car since i had my sport as i've been driving old sh!t around since then so made a nice change!

Coming together nicely, i think with a good mopping session and waxing she'll come up a treat.

is that wheel arch shot really from the touring turd or was it sneakily swapped from the restomobile???

is there a part no. for those top mounts, need some new ones and they may as well be offset jobbies

Car looks awesome! Engine bay cleaned up nicely. What did you use? I've recently been using a cutting compound to clean up the engine bay paintwork. Getting the old wax of the air filter box is a mystery so far though.

Matt straight up it's this car. they have come up really well.

Toby we used TFR and some degreaser left it all to soak in for about 5mins and then a pressure washer thingy. You need to cover up a few of the electrical bits and not blast it too close. It did lift some paint on the cam cover but it's flakey/f**ked anyway. I must buy one they are great fun! hose pipe in roids.

I can get the underside of the 2dr looking like the rest of the car then

My Dad's got a pressure washer. I might give it a go. It's a bit scary I always find, taking water to the engine bay. I'm always relieved to hear the engine fire up again afterwards.

The local jet wash has an engine steam clean option with a warning that it may take paint off too :clin:

Perhaps the home method is a safer option.

TFR is that traffic film remover yeah? What brand/strength are you guys using, or doesn't it really matter?

Is BMW alloy wheel cleaner in this category? I've always found that to be excellent stuff and had forgotten about it until recently.

we used it about 50/50 diluted, if you use it neat in the engine bay it ruins all the black plastic in there and turns it all white/milky if it's too strong.

I don't know where you buy it

motor factors, about £15 a gallon. mine is comma stuff. i diluted it about 10:1 for the wheels as i only had a little bit left, still awesome though.

stings like a muthaphucka if you get it in a cut though 8O

My hands are shedding their skin Si!!! It's vicious stuff.

Must admit, it came up well. BIG detailing still to do in the engine bay but the objective of the day was A. to get it more respectable for Gaydon and B. to make it a nicer car to work on. I think we acheived both.

We used a VERY strong mix under the arches, almost undiluted. It's rare I go to this strength but this car had never been done properly. The engine bay was done using about 25% TFR to water. Again, I wouldn't normally go to this strength but it was minging.

Whenever I buy another car, it's first wash is with TFR. Use similar amounts (a couple of glugs in a bucket) to normal car shampoo and wash the car. Gives you an excellent blank canvass to work with.

I buy this stuff by the 25 litre drum and it lasts me about 2 years! It's vastly cheaper that way. You can buy ready diluted gear or neat. I always go for neat.

Well it's been a while but i've been busy on the chariot instead of the 2dr recently

Car went onto the dyno yesterday, twice! once at surrey rolling road, then at Sal's at Evolve.

First run at surrey's was done in 3rd gear for some unkown reason and was 185bhp, 185lbs. I was miffed at this seeing as the car pulled a 14.9 1/4 mile at the pod and that aint enough power to do that!

So off i went with Barry up to see Salad. Now Barrys car dynoed on both Dyno's in 4th gear and made identical power on both. This time the car was done in 4th gear and made a more like it 198bhp and 220lbs. Make of it what you will but it feels like the latter dyno run on the road. Barry has the graphs so post them bitch! Fueling is spot on too which is great news

Anyhow i've been busy fixing the central locking today and it's fixed much to my relief, but i battled the rain and fitted my map light mirror for it

Image

Also the Alpina exhaust has been blowing and needs some welding so off it came 2 weeks ago and this went on

Image
Image

Racing Dynamics 6 branch with full scorpion, The backbox is a DTM one but i had the upswepts cut of straight. Me likes. Very loud now too

Last week again in the bloody rain, i fitted a new front valance and front spoiler as i had destroyed the old one! plus i'd bent the valance and lost a fog light in a fox incident and she was looking scruffy again!

Image
Image

Few others taken in the rain today

Still loads more work to do still to get her up to scratch but it's coming on nicely and alot better than when we bought it

Did you speak to your nan re doctoring those seat parts. Be interesting to know if it's possible and get a minty mint pair of silver fronts out of it.

Problem is they are on my smoked hellas but i think black headlamps on black paint look quite good

Finally had some time for this particular chariot! It's on a SORN at the moment and it badly needs a new clutch. Like all things i've snowballed it of my own accord and have been busy gathering other bits while you there like! Well not quite but here we go then

The interior is a bit naff as you can see and i'd found out of a scrapper some other good sport seats and i was going to repair this one, but i've found something much more interesting!

Dash is also cracked so thats had to come out

Image

Carpet out and to greet me a bloody swimming pool, the f**king carpet is soaked, so i've got a leak somewhere!

Image Me plugging in the heated seat loom :) it's just a plug into the accessory board and an earth strap it's that easy

Image
I'm going to sort this stereo "wiring" out 2moro and change it for another head unit.

Image

Found this under the carpet! :D i've got 3 now he he

Image
ECU i think on the top left is the cars number if it had a dash plaque

So hopefully 2moro we can sort that wiring and get the 13button OBC in also. Carpet cleaning also but i expect it's going to take a long time to dry and i need to findout where the water is coming in :?
