Mt touring is a late model with cat (now in the bin)

The carbon canister remains clamped to the nearside innner wing/ turret area. Does this continue to have any purpose or do i remove, if I remove do I need to to anything in particular with the breather pipe going to the tank etc?

Well the M50 will come with a carbon canister breather system that you could easily attach to you canister. Normally you just leave the valve attached and zip tie it somewhere, but where's the harm in atatching it?

Will removing the cat make it a dick to get an MOT? What year is your car?

i'll leave it in there I guess

The touring is a 1993, but the M50 I'm putting in is 1992, so I can get away without a cat :D

Isn't the cat requirement down to the year of the car though?

Thought it was the engine it went by?
E34 x 1 - V8 + lots of CF
E30 x 2 - Tourings (1 x M50, 1 x M40)
RS6 C5 - Stage 1 remap - 500bhp

Vehicles fitted with a different engine

This inspection applies to all spark ignition engined vehicles with four or more wheels in Classes IV and VII.
Contained within this section are flowcharts. Carefully use these flowcharts to accurately establish which type of emission test is applicable to the vehicle being tested-

Test according to which is older, engine or vehicle.
e.g. A 1995 car fitted with a 1991 engine (of whatever make), test to 1991 standards for emission purposes.

Note: The onus is on the vehicle presenter
to prove engine age.

From the MOT tester's handbook :)
