Nah, thats not the end - I reckon its cool. Beat the Porsche Cayenne at its own game and build turbo M5s.
M3 is still their major focus and thats the thing that matters to me. Shame there will be no M3 Touring tho :(

Agree with Stu. Look at what they can do with N/A, I'm sure they can do a lot more with a turbo!

Oh, there will be. When the Arabs run out in 40 years the Yanks will open up their reserves. Then Australia and then Canada who alone have more oil that anyone else in the middle east. Ignore all the doom and gloom about the petrol car being finished - not in our lifetime it won't be.

So do you reckon that the V10 M5 will be a "Classic of Classics" in the future? If its the last NA M5 it might well have some special cachet. I'm sure there will be some kick back against the V8 Turbo in the next model... just as there was when the M3 went 6 cylinder, then 8.

i thought all the yank and canuck stuff was shale oil? anyway if the yanks are the only ones left with petrol we wont be getting any and it wont last long over there.

cant say im really worried about it as theres nothing i can do about it anyway.

Why are the americans paying billions of dollars to buy middle eastern oil (and some would say fighting wars to ensure its continued supply) if they have there own?

Merc C63 is NA and so is the Audi RS4.

RS6 is Turbo but the E63 isnt. I seriously doubt they will change all M cars to Turbos. Maybe just the M5's but only of Merc shove that 6.3 V12 Twin Turbo in the E.

i hope it becomes a classic. i bgt one at the start of the year, and when i heard this rumour a few weeks ago was already thinking along the lines of "do i own the last V10 M car?". shame if they do go to FI i think, but this is //M division. i'm sure they would make it a great car.

Simple. They are playing the long game - when it comes to something that civilisation relies on (oil), use someone else's first. There's also a saying about never keeping an Arab hungry.
The USA also has a 'war economy' that relies on weapons sales.
