Hey guys,
Thinking about selling my M3 as I just dont get to use it.
A lot of you know the car and know its owned by a genuine enthusiast, always garaged, zaino'd all the time etc etc.
All i really need to know is what sort of money I could expect if I sold up as Il only do it if the price is right.
general specs as follows -
1989 Cecotto in Macau Blue
Grey heated leather & grey dashboard (rare)
200k kilomiters with new gearbox in 99 and engine rebuild in 2003
FSH, both german and english
Koni adjustable suspension
The only real bad points are a small bit of rust around the scuttle ( just had the windscreen replaced so I have pics) and some stone chips to the front
I could go on but this is not a for sale thread
So what do you think guys, can you help me put a price on this?

Can't help with value apart to say if you can afford to hold on to it do! Now is not the time to be selling, might be more hassle than its worth trying to sell in this economic climate.

Thats just the problem gazza - I dont know if 11k is a fair price or not. One minute you see some clean looking cars going for 8k then the next you see an average one going for 15
If i do decide to sell i dont want to put a figure on it that will scare people off but at the same time I dont want to give it away.

Theres this one on ebay and its over 12k

If yours in in the same or better condition then this your proberly looking around that region. But as said by march109, this is not the time as you will proberly lose out on alot on what its worth. Unless a real enthusiast comes along who will give you the right money, but as we all know a car is only worth what someone is willing to pay for it.
I see what your saying as its just sat there, i sold my e30 a couple months ago as its no longer in use and ended up taking a loss on it so just keep the loss in mind before you do decide to sell it.
Good luck with it mate.

I would say 10 bags minimum, but I don't really know the car to be honest, so that's just a gut reaction
Guess it's right punter on the right day isn't it

do not take ebay prices as a true reflection of their value.
there's a heck of a lot of shill bidding and bumpin going on.
last week i watched a silver m3 with a basic add, very few details and a mention of some rust get up to over £14k!!

An M3 is presumably never going to be a quick sale as they are such a specialist car, and they will always be hard to value for the same reason. Think what it is worth to you and ask for that, and try not to be too gutted if you struggle to sell or take what later appears to be too little for it.
As said above though, don't know what your M3 is worth, other than to say it will certainly be worth more in a year's time, so unless it's storage is costing you big bucks or you have other financial pressures necessitating a sale, hang on to it.

Mine's not even a special edition.
And couldn't even bare the thought of selling it.
I looked high and low for a cherished Macau M3 about a year ago and settled for my current black chariot.
Jon's was out of my reach
Mine's had more money spent on it than its worth, in service at the legends/ Main dealer and specialist and full paint job. I got it for a steal all things considered.
Some wise words spoken above,I would like to point out and take notice.
The one on ebay that I posted on here is a turd, its been documented. It was over 12k last time I looked

X2 I know a fella who had a corolla gt coupe on ebay, listed 5 or 6 times and each time it reached bigger money than she was worth and everytime the winning bidder realised what he had done and refused to pay.harry_p wrote:do not take ebay prices as a true reflection of their value.

I also seen that silver m3, i guarantee he didnt get that money for her.

Hmmm... were they 'private auctions' perchance? I nearly got stung on a 325i by one of those.dimebag_from_hell wrote:X2 I know a fella who had a corolla gt coupe on ebay, listed 5 or 6 times and each time it reached bigger money than she was worth and everytime the winning bidder realised what he had done and refused to pay.harry_p wrote:do not take ebay prices as a true reflection of their value.

Ebay gets worse by the day, and they don't help by introducing cheats' charter policies every 5 minutes.

Thanks for the responses guys - some very good advice.
I have seen the cecotto on ebay and IMO it is over priced, as was that silver one the other week.
My main argument for keeping it is that it will never loose money provided it is looked after, but when you spend more time polishing a car than using it you have to ask yourself what the point of keeping it is
As you can probably tell, im still very undecided but the general consensus seems to be around the 11k mark?
Thanks again for your input guys

nice car mate. would say the cecotto is worth around the 12 mark. wouldnt sell it for less than 11. the euro market love these cars. grey dash board is a big bonus, makes the interior look 10 times better. my cecottos got a grey dash board and my other e30 m3s got a black one and i cant tell you it makes a big difference.
if you sell pm me what you sold it for. be intresting to know.
good luck

e30bm - Dont worry, any chav scum would be sent packing - I know both its previous UK owners so dont think id get away with letting it fall into the wrong hands!
