Ad says its e30 as well as e36, i have a 318is, can anyone say if its a generic part or not and will fit

Any M40 or M42 AFM will fit and work correctly.
If you don't buy that one. I have a spare you can have for £25 including UK postage.
PN. 0280202203 which will fit your 318IS
