Is it normal to stink of fuel on start up, it generally stinks of fuel anytime i leave her with the engine running...

nope, check fuel lines haven't perished, or fpr is still ok.

how do you checked the lines; my lines are like solid; do i need to depressurise the system first?

On my old lines you could see the fuel seeping out of the hoses with the engine running and for a while after stopping.. Soon got those swapped out!
If you flex the hoses you can usually see a fine network of cracks along them.

Just have a look at the hoses to/from the injector rail - chances are they'll be pretty obviously perished... Easy to swap though :thumb:
E30 in need of wiring loom smoke since April '11...
