Keep it standard?! He's only gonna council it up with a 60/40 drop and a scorp ffs!Gortour wrote:To an extent I agree with this, having made the decision to keep the car standard, I would also stick with the original spec too...daimlerman wrote:Of course when you stuck with 'orible black to keep it 'original' we all expected that the spec. would be kept origanal,to add to it's value,of course. All these non-original parts are devalueing the thing.
Though extra Alpina bits like the vent display shouldn't be a problem, as Alpina didn't specifically keep records of everything fitted to each car did they? So this wouldn't necessarily be picked up as not fitted new.

Dealer fitted goodies won't necessarily show on the spec sheet , so anything Simon adds to gild the lilly, provided is OE and fully functioning can only add value.
Case in point. My C2 left the factory without A/C, but this was fitted @ Sytners at the time of conversion with 47 miles covered.
would anyone honestly NOT buy a car in minty condition if the owner told you he retrofitted the E/Winds and PAS etc, no, didn't think so
as for the 60/40 they are Uber high as std

It'll be wonderful when it's done whatever choice goodies Si decides to fit or not.
I just thought the intention was to make it 100% as it would have been new. Thought that was the reason for the black paint.
Though as said above, while I agree I would have gone with the blue, it's not my car or choice.
Not trying to spoil-sport at all Si. Do your car how you want.

60/40? What a pity. Mind you, when the front tyre catches the arch lip and pulls it out it'll have the full council look....
35mm is plenty on that. They weren't silly low when new so it wants to look proper. I'd use a genuine BMW centre and back box too - they sound really nice in the way an aftermarket one doesn't.

He has a genuine alpina system on that C2 touring he could borrow.Andyboy wrote:60/40? What a pity. Mind you, when the front tyre catches the arch lip and pulls it out it'll have the full council look....

Those homos haven't spent the money Si has! The Tourings value wouldn't be compromised with a Scorpion but the C2's would.
Considering the standard of the bodywork and the original colour, I would say the car needs to be absolutely standard, maybe a 270 cam (the Alpina original is NLA) and a set of Eibach springs with a 35mm drop. The ride comfort with a modest drop is so much better and the handling is better as well. I just took the Hartge Bilsteins and Racing Dynamics springs off my E32, and fitted Eibach 35mm springs and new stock Boge shocks. The ride is 100% better and it corners better too.

if you fit the correct bilsteins like B6's to the cupkit springs there is no rubbing on arch lips on the front!
if i went 35mm again i'd use H&R's
opinions are always welcome but at the end of the day get your hand in your pocket and do the same thing. I'm buried in it as we know and i'll be dammed if i won't have it how i like it. Theres nothing going on that can't be bolted off in a few hours so i really really can't see the problem but you can't please everyone
It's going to start off with my nurburgring spec suspension formula
as i'd really like to take it back there when it's done and "drive to tescos" in it

It's considered shouting, and also rude to use capitals.
No worries, not a problem pal. Enjoy the Zone.

hello simon
i'm really quite envious of your c2 build, but perhaps not so much of all the work that's gone into it. i don't mind hard work but loads and loads of it just to fund it? fair play to you. anyways, what toonage are you planning on and would you like any help planning/acquiring/installing? i'm quite happy to come up to your place and work on your motor in this department - if only for the reflected glory. ah the reflected glory!

a little progress today after a week off it, not entirely needed but the it's been washed today and a cleaning bufty let loose on it!
Looks stunning in the day light but it's dark so these nice reflections show the days work to good effect. It shines even more than when it first arrived and has that nice deep wet look to the paint which i love

this ones a cracker! Hopefully we will have some sun and i'll get a shot then too.
I've got the sound deadening panel i needed today also off a zoner so thanking him i can crack on with getting the car ready for the loom to go back in and the fun can really start
