Hi Guys,

I have just backed the damping off on my Leda suspension in preperation for the 5hr drive to Oulton Park and noticed the rear suspension is set unevenly, would there be a reason for this or has someone just been fiddling.

Settings as follows

FL - 14 Clicks from softest
FR - 14 Clicks from softest
RL - 9 Clicks from softest
RR - 16 Clicks from softest

Cheers

not by that amount i would have imagined

perhaps one or two clicks, too even out an imbalenced car (i.e. if the car was say 100-200kgs heavier for driver, battery fuel tank etc)

but 7 clicks (assuming it doesn't take 100 clicks from softest to hardest) sounds like quite a bit to me

Usually only different front to back, not side to side. Spring height can be different all round from corner weighting, dampers I'd have thought not. Somebody been twiddling.

it's better to adjust dampers from CLOSED position. Sometimes adjusters are not all equal and opening from closed/hard is a safer way to ensure they are all equally open.
If you start from soft/open you may have different openings on the valves because the adjuster is a little bit different.
Does this make any sense to you? I can't explain it better.

Cheers Uwe, that makes perfect sense. I will set them back to what they were and then count the clicks until hardest setting.

i noticed my Ledas were uneven at the rear too recently, though i'm 99% sure they were set the same. i wonder if i either cought it at some stage tinkering or as my wonky one was also on the n/s/r corner, i might have been knocked on the exhaust or something (very close on mine)

incidentally, are you running the whole setup on the rear? i've yet to refit my coilover springs on the rear as they didn't clear the o/s/r inner arch. i've since machined a little off the spacers at the bottom and intend to move the bolt holes outwards on the top mounts, to get that bire more space. i've also modified the breather pipe setup to get more clearance.

if you happen to have any pics, that would be awesome winkeye

Oh, try setting them to their hardest... OWWWW! :D

Right, I double checked this morning and there are two fewer clicks from sotfest to hardest on the o/s/r so that would account for some of difference.

Gareth, I have taken some pics for you to look at although as the car was already fitted with the Leda units I do not know what was done to overcome your problem. (Also I am not really 100%sure what the "coilover" part is... I just know it's a good thing to have! :D

As soon as I work out how to put the pics on this thread I'll post them up!

creat an account on www.photobucket.com, upload your pics and copy and past the URL's onto your post. if you click on the "IMG code" section under each pic on photobucket, it'll have the correct HTML code on it already :D it's a doddle :D

the 'coilover' bit relates to having an adjustable spring platform, mounted on the rear shock body itself rather than using the pigtail spring between the trailing arm and chassis

that's awesome, cheers dude.
does the top mount on the drivers side look the same? it's the clearance round the fuel breathers that run along the inner arch that caused me problems.
so far, i've shortened the spacers on the bottom bolts to move the shocks outwards by 5mm at the bottom but i think i'll have to modify the top a bit too... i'll have a look soon to see how it all fits. :D
