Barry. What paint do you recommend for under the arches? I struck lucky with mine as a mate had some tins of out of date  matt black industial shite that I used on mine. the finish is perfect (mid way between satin and full matt) but if i ever need to do it again I wouldn't be able to get the stuff again.

Looking good mate, nice seeing it gradually being built up and loaded with morsels. I have a lovely fully working headlight wiper system that would go nicely on that car...

Indeed! I'd be loading the car with as many options as possible to make it uber spec. Suppose you have to draw the line somewhere.

More pics please Simey

i've just had barry on the phone...........now i had aircon and i sold it to oldskool! it's now in barrys S50 red touring which Damo put in. For aircon i'd need an aircon front valance and alpina front spoiler. I know you don't need it but it's proper. i like windows down in the heat. It's never hot enough here if your honest to NEED it!

lol Headlamp IS gay makes the front end fussy imo, the base spec car had a manual aerial!

i've got black sport leathers with rear head rests, cruise control, heated seats, map light mirror, black headlining, rear blind, electric front windows, climate control. All to add to the cars original spec. 13 button OBC and rear opening windows -car was fitted with last two already.

So really i'd only need aircon and headlamp to finish it off unless there is something i've missed. I don't want heated door locks, washer jets, wing mirror. tweeter pods aswell?

I'd have to payout and find some alpina big brakes and digi readout gauge to really finish it then!

But i think the spec will be pretty good anyway. I can always retro fit later if i change my mind no?

Headlamp wipers are de-rigeur for any uber-cool Diamond Black E30 IMHO. All four of my E30s have had them and they add a menacing and purposeful touch to the front end.

Stuff like the OBC, cruise, tweeter pods will be easy to add at a later date.

If you do go for the A/C, then get it fitted now when it's in pieces.

I've got a nice full OBC kit on e-bay at the moment.

Car is looking really good Simon, keep up the great (and some not so great!) pics.

Fit the A/C heater box and run the electrics, that way none of the dash needs to come out should you feel the need to fit the A/C later.

Mine is non roof so the A/C kinda "fits" the spec ,

And H/lamp w/wipe is Gaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay

if you really must have built in cleaning ( HID for defo ) then fit a headlamp pump from a dirty six and loose everything but the jets, job jobbed ( did this on my Tech 1 like 6 years ago  )

Coming along well Si :thumb:

You're both completely wrong. Headlight washers are very cool when they work. Adds an extra 'je ne sais quoi' to the front end.

The spec sounds good though Simon, standard C2 engine or fettled?

Must admit, I'm in two minds on HLWW. I'm always one for options. The more options boxes ticked the better the car IMO. But they are so unreliable the other half of me says "they were sh1t when new so why have more hassle 20 years down the line?" As for the look of them? It's another visable option so I like them for that alone.

Good call Ant, only electrics is the engine bay loom to the fuse box, the rest is attached to the heater box itself as i understand. Then it's just a case of bolting/plugging the pipes,condenser/fan, dryer, compressor in, which woouldn't be that bad. It'd be a nice option i suppose.

All this sh!t is alot more time finding the stuff, money and effort to fit something i'm not entirely 100% i'm sure i'd want or use more importantly. A/C needs to be used a fair amount all year round otherwise it fails, holed condendsors, leaks from hardened rubber seals etc. If i lay it up each year from harsh the harsh winter weather for 3/4 months every year whats the point? potential big bill everytime spring appears. I like listening to my scorpion exhausts!

engine is top secret! Or in other words undecided. I've a good idea of what i'd like to do. Nothing hairy with a 288 cam though. It's got to look stock bar a nice certain 6 branch and no cough idle like a pig

Of course when you stuck with 'orible black to keep it 'original' we all expected that the spec. would be kept origanal,to add to it's value,of course. All these non-original parts are devalueing the thing. winkeye

Bump the digi readout gauge up the list mate - if you can find one that will make the interior uber

Simon if its just the cable you should be able to use a brake cable from a bike depending on the brand, we sell quite a few to people for this use where i work,

regarding the A/C, go with what you want mate as it is your car at the end of the day,.

To an extent I agree with this, having made the decision to keep the car standard, I would also stick with the original spec too...

Though extra Alpina bits like the vent display shouldn't be a problem, as Alpina didn't specifically keep records of everything fitted to each car did they? So this wouldn't necessarily be picked up as not fitted new.

the parts are not non original, if you prefer cloth seaths and windy windows in your alpina go and by one,

how adding factory options will devalue the car is beyond me especially when i see what other people on here do their cars and some alpinas.

The black paint job looks the tits, and there are no regrets from my choice
